She looked at him seriously.
“We saw him last night too. He didn’t leave. I don’t think he even went anywhere.”
Nicholas frowned.
It was true. The same car had been parked there since yesterday.
“Also,” April added, her tone turning sharper, “I need to have a proper talk with him. How dare he appear in front of her after what he did? This man has no shame.”
Nicholas sighed.
April was protective by nature. And with Riyana living under their roof for six months, she had grown even more attached to her.
“Let’s go talk to him,” April insisted.
Nicholas thought for a moment, then shook his head again. “If we go outside and argue at the gate, it won’t look good. He’s a well-known man. What if someone recognizes him? It will create attention.”
April pressed her lips together, considering.
“Then let’s call him in,” Nicholas continued. “We can talk properly inside.”
April hesitated for a second, then nodded. “Alright. Go call him.”
Nicholas immediately walked toward the door.
April stayed behind for a moment, glancing once more toward Riyana’s bedroom. Then she turned and went to the kitchen.
She placed spaghetti onto a plate, added a little extra sauce, and carefully carried it toward Riyana’s room.
She knocked softly and then opened the door.
Riyana was standing by the window again.
Her fingers were gripping the curtain tightly. Her shoulders were stiff.
“Have something to eat,” April said gently.
Riyana didn’t turn around immediately.
“What is Nicholas doing there?” she asked quietly, her eyes still fixed outside.
April stepped closer.
“Riyana,” she began calmly, “he’s been outside our house since last night. We can’t let him stay there like that.”
Riyana’s grip on the curtain tightened further.
“I know you two have problems,” April continued carefully, “but he’s not an ordinary person. If the media finds out he’s been standing outside our house all night, it will create trouble. For him. For you.”
Riyana’s jaw tightened slightly.
“And don’t worry,” April added quickly. “I won’t let him approach you unless you want that. Just eat something and rest.”
Riyana didn’t argue.
She simply watched through the glass as Nicholas opened the gate for Jabco.
Her heart beat faster despite herself.
April placed the plate on the bedside table.
“I’ll be outside. Call me if you need anything, okay?”
Riyana gave a faint nod.
April left the room quietly and closed the door behind her.
As she stepped into the living room, she saw Nicholas walking in with Jabco.
For a brief moment, April studied him carefully.
He was undeniably handsome. Sharp features, calm posture, even tired, he looked powerful. But his eyes… his eyes were red, as if he hadn’t slept properly for days.
He looked exhausted.
Still, his presence filled the room.
“Please, Mr. Grey,” Nicholas said politely, gesturing toward the sofa.
“Thank you,” Jabco replied with a short nod before sitting down.
But even as he sat, his eyes were moving.
Scanning, Searching.
“She’s in her room,” April said directly, stepping forward. “She said she doesn’t want to see your face.”
Jabco’s expression tightened instantly.
