My Husband's Affair My Anniversary Gift (Lily and David) novel Chapter 75

Olivia’s eyes widened too, her anger deepening. “How dare you,” she said, her voice trembling. “How dare you stand here and defend your mistress… in front of your wife? Have you completely lost all sense?”

David’s brows furrowed. “Mum, why are you always so against Marina? She...."

“Enough!” Olivia’s voice rose, cutting through his words like a whip. She was trembling now, her face flushed with anger.

Lily’s heart thudded in her chest. She had never seen Olivia like this before.

“Don’t you dare speak for that woman in front of me again!” Olivia’s voice shook as she stood up suddenly, her shawl slipping slightly from her shoulder. Her hand came up so fast that David didn’t even have time to react.

The sharp sound of a slap echoed through the living room.

Lily gasped, her hand flying up to cover her mouth in shock. The slap was loud, and the sight of Olivia, gentle, kind Olivia, striking her own son was shocking.

David froze, his head turned slightly from the force of the slap. He slowly brought his hand up to rub his cheek, his expression dark and unreadable.

“I am your mother,” Olivia said, her voice shaking with anger, “and I will not tolerate hearing you speak of that woman in my house. Not when you’ve hurt your wife so deeply.”

Her voice broke slightly, but her anger didn’t waver. “If you dare speak for her in front of me again, don’t you ever call me ‘Mother.’”

David’s hand fell from his cheek, his jaw tight.

“Get out of my sight!” Olivia spat, her hands trembling. “Leave. I don’t want to see your face right now.”

“Mum, please… calm down,” Lily said quickly, rising from her seat and rushing to Olivia’s side. She gently grabbed Olivia’s shoulders, steadying her trembling body.

Olivia’s breathing was uneven, her face pale from the surge of anger. Lily carefully guided her back to the sofa, her hands soothing as she tried to calm her down.

David stood frozen for a moment, his dark eyes darting between Olivia and Lily. There was a flicker of something in his gaze—maybe guilt, maybe regret—but it vanished just as quickly as it came.

“Leave,” Lily said firmly, her voice calm but cold. She looked up at David with eyes that burned with anger she was holding back.

David didn’t say a word at first. His expression was cold, unreadable, but his dark eyes seemed to study Lily for a second too long.

“Lily,” Olivia whispered softly, her voice weak.

Lily crouched down, holding her hands gently. “Mum, please calm down. You’re still recovering. Don’t get so angry.”

Olivia shook her head, tears forming in her eyes now. “I don’t know what’s wrong with him. I didn’t raise him to be like this. I thought he would… I thought he would protect you, love you. But instead…” Her voice cracked, and she covered her face with her trembling hands.

Lily’s heart ached at the sight. She wrapped her arms gently around Olivia, holding her close. “It’s okay,” she whispered softly, stroking her back. “Don’t cry. I’m okay. I’m fine.”
