My Husband's Affair My Anniversary Gift (Lily and David) novel Chapter 88

Lily’s eyes widened, her nostrils flared. “Kiss you back?” she almost screamed. Her hand shot up, pointing at him. “You forced yourself on me! You pinned me like—like an animal! Don’t you dare twist this!”

Her voice echoed through the apartment. For a moment, David’s smile vanished. His eyes darkened, his jaw tightened. But instead of apologizing, he scoffed, “ I'm not leaving. I'm staying here tonight, do whatever you want "

Lily’s whole body trembled with rage. She threw her bag on the sofa and marched straight to him, standing only inches away, glaring up at him though her eyes were glossy with unshed tears.

“ leave me alone. You… you make me sick, David. You think everything is a game, don’t you? Do you ever stop and think about what you’re doing to me?”

David’s sharp gaze lingered on Lily, his lips parting as if he was about to throw another biting remark at her. But before a word escaped, a low, undeniable sound cut through the tension.

Grrr....

David froze.

Lily blinked, taken aback, then her brows arched in disbelief. His stomach… had just growled.

For the first time in a long while, she saw David’s face shift with something other than arrogance. A flush of embarrassment crept up his neck and across his cheeks.

He immediately turned his face away, pretending to study the blank wall beside him.

Lily’s arms folded tightly across her chest. She couldn’t help the angry glare she shot him, but the awkwardness between them suddenly thickened.

So, he hadn’t eaten either.

She didn’t say anything, though. She was too tired to deal with him. With a huff, she spun on her heel and marched toward her bedroom. The slam of the door echoed her frustration.

Inside, she peeled off her clothes and stepped into a quick shower, letting the cool water wash away the mess of emotions—the anger, the humiliation, the exhaustion of the day. Her mind kept circling back to David’s shamelessness, barging into her home as though he owned it, refusing to leave, and now sitting there like he belonged.

When she emerged, wrapped in a loose T-shirt and shorts, towel drying her hair, she half-hoped he would be gone. But no.

David was still there.

Sitting sprawled on her sofa, one arm resting lazily across the back, his expression unreadable.

“You haven’t left yet?” Lily snapped, her glare sharp enough to cut glass.

David lifted his eyes to her. Calm. Unbothered. “I told you I’m not leaving.”

Then, as if he really was the owner of the apartment, he stood up and stretched. “I’ll take a shower.”

He started walking straight toward her bedroom.

“Takeout,” she muttered, defeated.

Grabbing her phone, she opened the food delivery app and started scrolling. Tonight, takeout would save her sanity. Tomorrow, she promised herself, she’d go grocery shopping.

Lily turned from the door with the takeout bags in her hands and froze.

David was standing in the living room in a grey bathrobe that hung on him like a tent. He looked half-put-together — hair still damp, bare feet, one hand shoved in the robe pocket. He watched her and when she blinked at him he shrugged like it was the most normal thing in the world.

“Why are you wearing my bathrobe?” she snapped, the irritation cutting through the tiredness.

He rolled his shoulders and gave a careless look at the robe. “I don’t have any clothes,” he said like it explained everything.

“The only thing I could find in your bathroom was this. And for your information,” he added with a slow, shameless smile, “I don’t think this was yours. It looks… big. Maybe you bought it for me.”

Lily couldn’t help it — a laugh, sharp and bitter, escaped her. “Don’t flatter yourself. Why would I buy things for you? We’re done. We have nothing to do with each other,” she said.

“This is for.....” She stopped mid-sentence when his hands were suddenly around her and his mouth covered hers.

For a full beat she was blank. Reflex pushed her hand up and she hit him. Hard. “Get off me!” she shoved, fingers clawing at his robe to push him away. “Have you lost your mind?”
