My Husband's Affair My Anniversary Gift (Lily and David) novel Chapter 87

A tall, familiar figure stepped inside the elevator.

Her breath caught in her throat. David.

Lily’s eyes widened as shock rushed over her. “You...what are you doing here?” she demanded, her voice tight and sharp. “You should be at the hospital with your mother.”

David didn’t reply right away. He leaned against the wall with casual arrogance, his hand pressing the button to her floor without hesitation. His silence made her chest tighten with unease.

“I asked you something,” Lily said again, her tone rising with fury. “What are you doing here?”

Finally, David’s eyes turned toward her. They were dark, unreadable, but the sly curve of his lips betrayed something mocking.

“You were supposed to be having dinner with Jabco, weren’t you?” His voice dripped with sarcasm. “Or did he ditch you?”

A smirk spread across his face, cruel and provoking.

Lily’s jaw clenched, her anger bubbling. “Shut up, David,” she snapped. “Leave me alone.”

She tried to take a step back, but he moved closer, closing the space between them. His hand suddenly found her waist, gripping her firmly and pulling her toward him.

Lily’s eyes flared wide as she shoved both palms hard against his chest, trying to create distance. “Let me go!” she hissed, her voice trembling with fury. “You have no right.....”

But David only leaned in, his words hot and venomous near her ear.

“No one will handle you but me,” he murmured with dangerous confidence. “Forget Jabco. He can’t take you away from me. He’s already engaged.”

The mocking lilt in his tone made Lily’s blood boil. Her heart pounded painfully against her ribs. Her eyes burned, not with tears, but with sheer rage.

Her hand shot up before she could even think—smack!

The sharp sound echoed in the confined elevator. Lily’s palm stung from the force of the slap, but the sight of David’s shocked expression fueled her anger further.

“I am not like your lover,” she spat, her chest rising and falling rapidly. “I will never get between someone else’s marriage. Not like her.”

Her voice dripped with disgust as she glared at him.

She reached her door, fumbling for the keys with shaky hands. Finally, she got it open and stepped inside. But before she could slam it shut, David’s hand shot out, catching the edge of the door.

“Move your hand!” Lily snapped, trying to shove it closed.

Instead, David pushed, easily overpowering her strength. The door swung wide open, and he stepped inside without hesitation, his tall frame filling the small space of her apartment.

Her chest heaved as she stared at him in disbelief. “Get out, David! This is my home, not yours!”

But he didn’t budge. His eyes, still stormy and intense, stayed locked on her as he closed the door behind him with a quiet click, as if claiming the space for himself.

Lily’s breath quickened. She tightened her fist around the key, her whole body shaking. “Did you hear me? I said get out!” she shouted, her eyes burning with fury.

But David just chuckled under his breath, running a hand through his messy hair. "This is not your apartment either" His voice was low, mocking, laced with something dangerous.

Lily’s jaw clenched, her lips pressed into a thin line. “That's none of your business. I’m disgusted by you!” she fired back, her voice sharp enough to cut. “You’re supposed to be with your mother, not following me here like some, some creep!”

David tilted his head, his smile curling back on his lips. “Disgusted?” He stepped closer, his eyes fixed on her face. “You didn’t look so disgusted in the elevator when you kissed me back.”
