My Husband’s Second Personality Loved His Sister-in-Law novel Chapter 9

Chapter 9

After acquiring Reed Group, I stayed up all night rebranding the company as Bennett Group.

Nathaniel, meanwhile, stood outside every day, waiting for me to leave work, often holding a bouquet of

roses.

“Evelyn… I know I was wrong. Can you give me another chance?”

For three months, he repeated this mantra every time he saw me.

Finally, on the third month, I looked him in the eye.

He looked haggard compared to before. His stubble was messy despite trimming, and his eye bags nearly touched his nose.

Seeing me, Nathaniel forced a standard smile.

“We were married, Evelyn. Don’t you remember the bond we share?”

“I just made a mistake this one time. Will you forgive me?”

Watching him stubbornly cling to hope, I bit the soft flesh of my lip and said,

“Alright, Nathaniel. I have a question for you.”

His eyes lit up. This was the first real sentence I had spoken to him in three months.

“Four years ago… was my miscarriage really an accident?”

Nathaniel froze.

He stammered, eyes darting, unable to form a coherent answer.

“It wasn’t an accident,” I said myself.

“You knew my body was fragile, and yet you gave me those specialty supplements.”

“Full of extremely cold herbs.”

I placed a hand on my stomach, eyes filled with pain.

“You deliberately planned to harm our child.”

“How dare you show up here now and ask me to remarry you?”

Nathaniel stuttered, and I gave him my final ultimatum.

“If I see you anywhere near me again…”

“I’ll call the police.”

“Consider yourself warned.”

I turned to leave, then glanced back.

He thought I had softened, and hope flared in his eyes.

Slap.

I struck him across the face.

“This is for everything you owe me,” I said.

“Oh, and about our child…” I continued coldly.

“I originally wanted to spare you, but now there’s no reason to hide it.”

“The one with the weak body wasn’t me-it was you.”

“Nathaniel, you have a low sperm count-you probably didn’t even know.”

“The doctor said your chance of fathering a child was extremely low.”

“And yet you personally eliminated that one chance.”

“As for Sophia’s child…”I smiled. “Being only a month along and already showing like three-only you men

would believe that.”

Nathaniel’s gaze lost all focus.

I ignored his despair and walked out.

The next day, the news was reported on TV.

In the Brookvale neighborhood, an adult man suffering from mental instability fatally attacked his elderly parents and a woman, who was pregnant.

The case is now under investigation and has entered trial proceedings.

I turned off the TV.

The Reed Estate still stood in Brookvale, but I no longer cared. Nathaniel and his family were part of my past.

“Ms. Bennett, today’s schedule has been sent to your phone.”

I took the files from my assistant and nodded.

Briskly, I walked toward the conference room.

Without them, my life stretched ahead, free and limitless.
