Finn stood there, staring at the empty hospital bed. His hands curled into fists at his sides, knuckles white, as he was angry.
“Is this how you run a hospital? You just let patients disappear? If anything happens to Ella, I will bury every single one of you with the hospital!” Finn snapped at a nurse.
The nurse flinched, trembling violently. Her hands flew up, waving in front of her face, words tumbling out in a panic.
She explained, “Please don’t be mad, Mr. Harris. A man said he was Mrs. Harris’s friend and came to check her out.”
“A friend?” Finn’s head snapped toward her, eyes wild. “She doesn’t have friends. She’s an orphan. She’s been home with me since. we got married. Where would she get a friend?”
To consolidate her statement, the nurse just pointed at the monitor and pulled up the security footage.
Finn watched. And then his fist slammed into the wall hard when he knew that man was Edward, his rival in love.
Finn blurted, “I know it. I always know he wants her. Ella is vulnerable and recovering. He just took her away without my perntission?”
Grace tugged at his sleeve, her voice soft and sugary when she said, “Finn, maybe Ella chose to go.”
Finn jerked his arm away with annoyance, not even looking at her.
He said firmly, “No. She loves me and should have been waiting for me. She wouldn’t just leave with someone else.”
Then, the nurse handed him the divorce papers and said, “Mr. Harris, Mrs. Harris left them for you.”
That was when Finn was totally disillusioned.
I didn’t put the divorce papers in an envelope on purpose before I asked the nurse to give them to Finn. There were just divorce papers sitting there for anyone to read.
Therefore, everyone in the hospital knew exactly how Finn and Grace abused me, the real Mrs. Harris.
Their blaming eyes slid to Grace, who still held Finn’s arm tight.
The judgment was loud even in silence.
Grace flushed due to embarrassment and anger.
She said in a sharper voice, “Finn, what if Ella has been seeing someone? What if that’s why she wants the divorce?”
Fint couldn’t wait to retort, “No way.
“re going to find her and fix this.”

Finn stopped.
She looked down for half a second when something cold flickered across her face.

Then, she faked an innocent face, looked up, and said, “Finn, I have to tell you something. I didn’t want to say anything before because I thought you wouldn’t believe me.
“The reason I had that episode, the one where I hurt Ella, was because I heard her on the phone flirting with someone.”
Hearing this, Finn was shaking with pure rage.
He said through his gritted teeth, “So, that’s it. That’s why she left. What should I do, Grace? Tell me what to do.”
