My Love Burns for Anyone Worth It novel Chapter 20

**Vows Became Blame by Mark Twain**

**Chapter 20**

“Bella, why are you keeping your distance from us?” Ronald’s voice, tinged with a hint of pain, clutched at her heart as he grasped her hand tightly, refusing to relinquish his hold even as she twisted and turned, trying to break free.

Bella felt trapped, her other arm entwined with Nina’s, a lifeline she desperately needed. Sebastian lingered just behind, his presence a silent reminder of the tension that crackled in the air, unable to reach her other hand to offer solace. All he could do was position himself in her path, a barrier against her escape.

Nina’s gaze flitted between Sebastian and Ronald, then settled on Bella, whose lips had formed a subtle frown. An unsettling wave of anxiety washed over Nina; she felt like an unwelcome guest in this fraught moment, as if her presence was an intrusion on a delicate conversation.

Realizing that avoiding them was no longer an option, Bella ceased her struggle, releasing Nina’s hand with a sigh. “Nina, would you mind waiting over there for a moment? I really need to speak with them privately.”

Nina hesitated for a heartbeat, then nodded, directing her attention toward the nearby playground. “Okay, I’ll wait there. Just come find me when you’re finished.” She waved goodbye, her cheerful demeanor contrasting sharply with the tension that enveloped Bella.

Bella watched as Nina hurried away, a sense of relief washing over her, but it was fleeting. She turned her focus back to Sebastian and Ronald, her fingers deftly prying Ronald’s grip from her hand. The warmth she had shown Nina evaporated, replaced by a chill that radiated from her eyes, now sharp and filled with impatience.

“Alright, what is it that you want from me this time?”

The abrupt change in her tone hit Sebastian and Ronald like a physical blow. Ronald lowered his gaze, the fight draining from his posture as he softened his approach.

“Bella, we’ve given a lot of thought to what you said last time. We handled things poorly, and we acknowledge that we were wrong,” he began, extending a small box toward her with both hands, his heart clearly in the offering.

At that very moment, Sebastian stepped forward, presenting her with a legal document, his expression earnest.

“We’ve contacted the competition organizers, informing them that Tessa stole your design. The award rightfully belongs to you. As for her attempts to harm you… she’s been sentenced to prison.”

“Bella, we’ve set everything back to how it should be. Can we… can we start fresh?”

Bella accepted the trophy and the certificate, her design restored under her name, the weight of the moment heavy in her hands. She also took the judgment document, her mind racing with the implications of it all.

Yes, many things had been rectified.

Her design restored.
