"Of course, what do you want me to look for?"
"Ally had a doll that she dropped when we were running. Can you see if you can find it?" he asked with hopeful eyes.
I knew the chances of finding it were slim but I could try.
"You know I will try but I might not find it," I told him.
He nodded and limped over to Ally and John. Why did I tell him that when most likely I won't find it? All I will do is let him down.
Ash and Anthony came to visit and spent the whole day with us. Alex and Ally seemed to like Ash and Anthony. Ally got along with Ash and Alex seemed to like Anthony. John, however, kept looking at Anthony weirdly and kept eyeing him and Ash. Once, I thought I saw anger flash through his eyes. At 5 o'clock Jackie and Tommy came to get us.
"You two ready?" Tommy asked.
John grabbed our bag and our jackets. I turned to Ally and Alex who had sad expressions on their faces.
"I don't want you to go," Ally said wrapping her arms around me, "What if you come back?" she said with fear in her eyes.
I could feel John behind me, "I won't let anything happen to her, I promise."
I detangled her arms and turned to leave. I hurt to leave them, but I needed to get use to traveling and leaving because of Alpha business. John intertwined our fingers and led us outside where Tommy, Jackie, Tim, and his mate, Crystal, were waiting.
"Everyone ready?" Tim asked.
John put our bags in the car and I climbed in. They decided that Tommy and Tim would run beside the car in case of any possible ambushes. John and I sat in the back while Jackie drove and Crystal rode shock gun. John stared out the window lost in thought and occasionally looked down at me.
I kissed his cheek and leaned my head on his shoulder trying to settle his mind. He wrapped his arm around me titer and cuddled into his chest. I began to think about Ally and Alex, and how they lost their mother at such a young age. I know how it is to lose a mom but they are younger than I was. I don't know what I would have done without my father and John's family. We (Ally, Alex, and I) did, however, share one thing that Charlie killed both our mothers. How could a person be so mean and reckless? People aren't just like that. Something had to have happen to Charlie to make him be this way, but what?
We decided to stop for the night and continue the rest of the way in the morning. John was to take the first shift in watching the camp while the others and I slept but I couldn't sleep without him next to me. I got up to try and find him.
"John? Johnny?" I called out
I saw two blue eyes appear in the darkness. I walked over to him and scratched his head. He growled and licked me whole face.
"John," I said shocked.
He made this cocky grin on his face and I began to walk back to camp when John cut me off.
"John, really?" I asked trying to get around him.
He shook his head, 'You didn't wake me. I was coming to relieve you of your post to get some sleep. What is Morgan doing up still?' he asked.
I looked down at Morgan who had a confused look on her face.
'She couldn't sleep and came to find me,' I told him.
'Ah, she is still getting use to the claim I see,' he said eyeing the two of us.
I nodded.
'Well, go get some sleep the two of you. You need to be well rested for tomorrow,' he told me.
I looked down at Morgan and bent down motioning her to climb on. She looked at me confused but climbed on. She grabbed a fistful of my hair and hugged my neck.
"John, who was that?" she asked
Well, I couldn't really answer her so I just kept walking until we reached our tent. She hopped off and backed away. When she was at a safe distance I shifted back to my human self. Once I was changed I smiled at her and she ran into my arms. It felt good to have her in my arms. I just wish it was under different circumstances. I released her and unzipped the entrance of the tent and climbed inside.
