My Mate Is The Lycan King (Daisy and Kai) novel Chapter 132

Chapter 132

Chapter 132

I tried to mind link Damien, but I kept getting nothing.

It was like the link between us had been severed completely, and panic crawled up my spine.

I turned to Daisy. “Can you feel him?”

She shook her head. “I’m trying. There’s nothing there. It’s just… dark.”

“Fuck!” I cursed aloud. “I need to go to the border.”

Her eyes widened to the point of saucers. “Are you fucking insane? You don’t even know what you’re walking into. He could be dead.”

“Exactly!” I hissed. “That is my oldest friend. I’m not leaving him out there to die alone. A guard will take you back to the pack house.”

“If he’s dead, then that means they’ve found a way to hurt lycans. It’s not safe for you.” I didn’t respond to her. I just typed away furiously, calling on a guard. “Kai-”

“It’s not safe for you either, Daisy! I’m the King, I have to be on the front lines.”

Her jaw set stubbornly. “What happened to me being safe with you? What happened to not letting me out of your sight.”

“Plans change, Daisy. Go back to the pack house. Scarlett will be with you. I’ll be back as soon as I can. He cannot be in two places at once. If he is at the border, then he cannot be in the pack house. Only one person broke into the pack. He doesn’t have his army with him. I need to go there and make sure it stays that way.”

She gritted her teeth in anger, clearly not pleased with my decision but I had no interest in arguing with her.

The guard arrived in under two minutes with Scarlett in the passenger seat. Once Daisy was safely in the car, I shifted and ran, abandoning the car at the side of the road.

In my lycan form, I was faster than a car, and I was much stronger and durable. It was easy enough to get your hand around a weak human’s neck, but a lycan? Not only was I twice the size of a human, my bones were denser and my skin stronger.

I got to the border in record time and the smell of smoke and blood filled the air. I ran forward, straight into the battle. Lycans ripped at humans, grabbing them off the ground and tearing their heads clean off.

The humans… hunters tried to hold their own. They fired off’ silver bullets, slashed with silver weapons, but it barely dented our skin. It was pure carnage and destruction. Some lycans remained in their human form, trying to put out the fires that the hunters were setting.

I wasn’t sure if they knew that burning us alive would kill us or if it was a stroke of luck, but whatever it was, I didn’t want to know.

The sound of grass crunching caught my attention and I turned to the right as a hunter ran towards me, silver dagger in hand and torch in the other I lifted him easily throwing him harshly against a tree. I heard a loud

crack as he crumpled to the floor unmoving.

The torch caught on some grass, lighting up instantly and a soldier rushed over, dousing it with water.

A loud battle cry caught my attention and I turned, my eyes locking on a familiar lycan with deep brown fur… Damien. He was covered in blood from head to toe. His left arm seemed hurt and he limped a little, but he was holding his own.

Relief hit me so hard that my legs buckled and a howl left my lips.

Damien turned to me sharply, and even I could make out the surprise in his eyes. I tried to mind link him again, but something stopped me. Whatever it was… it was strong. I’d never felt anything like it before. It blocked the entire bond.

Damien smiled cruelly before turning back to the battle and ripping apart hunters. I followed suit, keeping an eye out for the man who had caused the whole thing and made our lives hell, but I never saw him, not even after the hunters started to retreat.

A guard offered me clothes to shift into and I immediately did so, not bothering to hide first. I’d been shifting for over a century, it was only natural that I’d grown comfortable with nudity.

“What the hell are you doing here?” Damien asked, rushing over to me.

He had a large cut on his shoulder that was already beginning to knit itself, and he avoided putting weight on his right leg as he hobbled over to me.

“We had it covered. You could have just mind linked me.”

“I fucking tried!” I exclaimed. “I couldn’t reach you, no one could. I thought you were dead.”

Damien frowned. “My wall isn’t down, I—wait, I can’t reach you either. Something’s wrong.”

I grabbed a random guard. “Can you use your mind link?”

He stared at me quizzically before trying. Then he shook his head. “No, Alpha.”

That didn’t make any sense.

There was nothing in our history books about a weapon that could take away the ability to mind link. Especially not on a large scale like this.

“What happened before the call ended?” I asked.

“There was some kind of explosion. It came out of fucking nowhere. The hunters started attacking almost immediately. I hurt my knee from the fucking debris that fell on it.”

Something wasn’t adding up.

How could an explosion rip away their ability to mind link and why was it affecting me?

Slow laughter erupted from the right, followed by heavy coughing,
