Silence with Kai didn’t feel forced or uncomfortable. It was easy didn’t feel the need to speak up or worry about filling it. and he didn’t push for any unnecessary conversation. He just sawith me quietly while I ate the best chocolate chip pancakes I’d ever eaten in my life.
“Can you open the glove compartment?” he asked as soon as we ot into the car after breakfast. “There’s a plastic bag in
there.”
I did as he asked and pulled out the black plastic bag. I tried to hand it to him but he shook his head.
“It’s for you.”
My brows rose in shock.
I opened my mouth to complain about him buying me things, but his words from earlier rang clear in my head, and I knew there was no use. I was also very curious to see what he’d gotten me.

read have a phone,” I said as I pulled it out. “You didn’t have to.”
‘I assumed yours wasn’t working seeing as you haven’t touched i since you arrived.”
I was shocked that he’d done this without asking, and that he’d even noticed that I hadn’t touched my phone. It wasn’t bad, I just wasn’t ready to open it and see the onslaught of messages. Eer since the video went viral in the pack, I turned off my phone. I knew the kinds of messages I’d get.
I was relieved now to have a phone that didn’t tie me to that pack.
“Thank you,” I whispered softly. Sincerity rang through my tone “I appreciate it.”
He just gave me a quick nod. “I can take you back to the pack house if you want.”
“Was there somewhere else you wanted to take me?”
“I usually take a drive round the pack once a week. I like to see how things are going. I also want to go home. I haven’t been there in a while.”
“Home?” I asked, my brows furrowing. “I thought you lived at the pack house.”
“No, princess, I don’t. I have my own home. It’s where we’ll live after the mating.”
My cheeks heated of their own accord at his words.
The thought of living with him after; being in the same space, and maybe even sharing a bed had goosebumps dancing all over my skin. My heart was hammering in my chest, but I wasn’t sure if it was from fear or something else.
“You don’t have to come with me,” Kai added quickly. “I just waned to give you the option.”
“I don’t mind,” I said after a moment of hesitation. “If I’m going be Lama then I may as well get to know the pack, right?‘
He frowned.
“You’re not going to be Luna”

The tips of my cars turned red as shame burned through me. I thought that since we were mated, it would automatically make me Luna. I should have known that he wouldn’t just make stranger Luna over his pack.
It was one thing to agree to mate with me and another entirely fr me to rule over his pack.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t-”
“You’re going to be Queen,” he cut me off. “Not Luna.”
“But, you’re the Alpha.”
“I’m also King, in case you forgot. You, Daisy, are going to be Quen.”
I didn’t know how to respond to that, so I said nothing. I turned away from him, keeping my eyes on the window and the scenery as we drove through the pack.
Whenever I imagined this pack, I always thought it would be filled with medieval looking homes, and people who were too terrified of Kai to breathe when he was near, but they bowed as we drove by, kids even waved. He said it was something he did often, but I didn’t believe it until I realized that no one seemed surprised to see him.
He pulled to a stop in front of a quaint little coffee shop.
“I’m going in to get a drink. Do you want something?” he asked and I shrugged. “I need words, Daisy.”
“I’m fine,” I tried to wave him off but he didn’t move.
“I’m not leaving there without something for you. You can either tell me what you want or I’ll buy every drink in the goddamned shop.”
Somehow, I knew he wasn’t bluffing. “Iced coffee will be fine.”
He left to get the drinks and I waited patiently in the car.
I thought it would be a sense of reprieve from him, but I was quickly proven wrong. The car still smelled like him, and the mating bond between us thrummed in my chest. I couldn’t get him out of my mind even if I tried.
A knock thankfully distracted me from my thoughts and I turned to find a group of young girls standing by the car. The oldest of them couldn’t have been more than ten.
“Hi,” I smiled softly. “Can I help you?”
“Is it true that you’re the Alpha’s mate?” one of them whispered.
Her friends quickly shushed her.
