Chapter 34

I held my breath, worried that if I breathed too hard, the intruder would shoot.

I couldn’t see their face, and when I tried to turn, I felt a sharp tu on my hair. It was nothing like what Kai did earlier, it was meant to inflict pain.

“Don’t make any sudden movements,” they snapped. “You’re going to do as I say or we’re going to have some serious problems. Am I clear?”

I swallowed deeply. “If it’s money you want, then I don’t know where he keeps it, but I can find out. I’ll give you whatever you want.”

The intruder didn’t smell like a lycan, they smelled like a wolf. On a good day, I’d probably be able to hold my own, but I hadn’t sparred in a while, and they had the advantage of a weapon. It felt like a gun and if it was loaded with silver bullets, I’d be dead in seconds.

“I don’t want filthy lycan money,” he hissed, shoving me forward slightly. “Move.”

I panicked.

I didn’t know much, but one thing I did know was to never allow yourself be moved to a second location. I glanced around the room quickly, trying to find something that could help me. I saw an umbrella by the door. It wasn’t so close, but it was

the best bet.

In a split second, I ran towards it. My hands barely wrapped around it when I was tugged back harshly by my hair. I was thrown backwards hard and my head slammed against the tiled floor.

Everything was fucking spinning.

I managed to stand to my feet, using the stairs as support. I’d barely taken one step when he kicked the back of my knee in, causing me to fall face first on the steps. A loud groan of pain escaped me as the edges dug into my sides.

“Listen to me, bitch,” he hissed, tugging me up by my

hair.

There was nothing recognizable about him. He was average looking at best, with a bald head and plain brown eyes. I was right about him being a wolf and not a lycan though, he didn’t have the same aura that the lycans did.

He brandished the gun in my face, pushing it firmly against my forehead.

“I have no issues blowing your fucking brains out,” he spat. “Hell if it were up to me, I wouldn’t have bothered with the abduction. I would have just killed you, but I have orders.”

“From who?”

“Who do you think you traitorous whore?”

Lucas

There was no other possibility,

“Try, do something. The mate bond is there isn’t it.”

“Yes, but-” she groaned in frustration. “There’s nothing I can do

“I’ll rather die than have someone take me back. You either find a way to reach Kai or he’ll return to a dead body.”

“You can’t do that,” she hissed. “Even if they take you, he’ll come for you. You know that.”

“I don’t want to be taken at all.”

“I’m trying here, okay? Just try to stay alive and I’ll try to get Kai

She slammed the mind link shut, ignoring whatever else I had to say.

“You can either fucking move of your own accord,” the man continued. “Or I will happily knock you out and drag you where you need to be. Am I understood?”

I nodded, wiping away the blood that was dripping down my forehead and over my eye. “Yes.”

I let him push me forward, towards the car that was waiting in the driveway.

He grabbed some ropes from the backseat, tying my hands and feet with them before tossing me into the trunk and driving off.

I did everything I could to ensure that trunk didn’t close. I slammed against it, hell, I even considered damning my wolf’s warning and running, but it was clear that this man was a trained guard. All it took was one pistol whip to the head for my entire body to go numb.

As I lay in the back of the trunk, feeling every bump the car made as it went over a curb, real fear gripped me.

I should have known that it was too good to be true, that my life was getting too easy. I should have known that Lucas was planning something when he lied about sending the video to Kai I was just so relieved that my mate hadn’t rejected me that I didn’t open my fucking eyes, and now I was going to pay for it.

“Are you still here?” I whispered to my wolf, but I got no response.

Her wall was still firmly in place and I couldn’t reach her.

I lay immobile in the trunk due to the bindings on my limbs, counting down every long second that we drove for. By the time the car finally pulled to a stop, we’d been driving for twenty minutes.

Had anyone even realized I was missing? If they hadn’t, how long would it take them? How long before they realized I was kidnapped? I’d be long gone by then… maybe even dead.

The trunk opened and I had to squint to get used to the brightness of the sun. I was dragged out unceremoniously and thrown to my knees.

“What the fuck is your problem?” I hissed.

“Language, Daisy,” a new voice drawled. “I see time with the lycans has turned you into a savage.”

I went deathly still, forcing my raging heart to calm.

There was no use getting upset, not when I was outnumbered.
