Growing up, my father always told me “You don’t keep the strongest men in the palace, you keep them at the front line. They guard your pack. If the front lines are safe, so is the rest of the pack.”
To become a member of the border patrol, you had to go through rigorous training and vetting. It was why our pack had remained protected for centuries. I considered them my family There wasn’t one of them I ever thought would betray me… until today.
“Give me one good reason why I shouldn’t just kill you,” I hissed out, staring at the man strung up by chains in front of me.
He was found trying to flee the pack through one of the other borders and was brought to the dungeons. I could count how many times I’d had to torture someone in the past century. We cans lived under a very strict code, and he broke the most important one.
“I swear, Alpha, I didn’t mean any harm,” he managed out.
They guards who found him took it upon themselves to beat him up before I arrived. His eyes were already swollen and he was breathing funny from a broken rib. The fun part about it was that because he was lycan, he’d be fine within the hour and I could start all over again.
“You helped people break into my pack and take my mate. There isn’t more harm than that. Where are they?”
“I don’t know.”
I chuckled darkly. “Wrong answer.”
The dungeon he was in was small. With his hands stretched out, he could touch both walls. It was deliberate, I wanted him to have a good view of the tools I was going to use on him, and I wanted him to dread every second.
I reached out for a set of silver shears.
“You know why I love silver so much?” I asked aloud. “Because as much as it stops the wound from healing, it also fucking burns. I am giving you one more chance to tell me what you know.”
“Please, your majesty, I don’t know-”
I didn’t give him the chance to finish before taking the plier to his thumb.
Contrary to popular belief, it wasn’t hard to cut off a finger at all With the right tool and the right position, you could get that satisfying crushing sound within seconds.
A loud scream filled the air as the smell of blood filled the air.
“You have nine more fingers and ten more toes,” I told him. “An goddess knows that if a hair on my mate’s head is hurt, I will do a lot more than cut off fingers.”
He choked on a cry. “He said that she wasn’t your mate. He said he was a spy. I thought I was helping the pack
I scoffed.
If he truly thought that, he would have gone to Damien or Scarlet He wouldn’t have risked coming to me, and he damn sure wouldn’t have let her be kidnapped.
I grabbed his jaw harshly. “Lie to me again, and I’ll slice off your ock”

“I’m not lying.”
I held the pliers to his other fingers. “You have five seconds to give me the truth.”
He didn’t speak, but damn did he scream, and the sound was like music to my fucking ears.
“Why did you do this?”
“Because she’s a wolf!” he yelled out. “She is a wolf and she doesn’t deserve to be Luna.”

His entire face was covered with sweat and sickly pale. His finger were bleeding without any sign of stopping. I knew he only had a few minutes until he passed out from the blood loss.
“Where is she?”
He sighed. “They said they were taking her back to their pack.”
“The pack is on lockdown, they can’t leave. Where would they go”
“I don’t know.”
Letting the shears drop, I jerked him by his collar. “You better start fucking knowing.”
“I’m the only one they know in this pack. My house was their only safe space. They wouldn’t risk being caught here. I’m sure they’re long gone.”
I released him. “You better hope for your sake that she’s safe, or you’ll be begging the goddess for death.”
I stormed out of the cell.
“Clean up his hands. I need him alive when I return,” I ordered the guards.
They nodded, rushing in with their first aid equipment to do as d asked.
Damien waited outside the dungeons. For someone who typically loved torturing people, I was surprised he didn’t want to get in on the action. It probably had something to do with me yelling at Scarlett earlier.
On a good day, I’d have asked, but right now, I was too strung up to focus on anything else but Daisy.
“Did you find where she is?” he asked and I shook my head.
“I have an idea though. Find out where Peter stays, and make sure the perimeter is secure. No one goes into the house until I get there.”
Damien looked unsure. “Do you think they’ll be stupid enough go there?”
“I don’t know, but we have to try.”
“I’m coming with you.”
I shrugged, not having the energy to argue with him.
We got into the car when my phone rang. As soon as I saw the General’s number, I picked up.
“Have you found her?” I asked immediately, not bothering with leasantries.
