Her skin was soft and smooth, it tasted like her: berries and flowers that drove me mad.

I wasn’t sure if marking her strengthen our mating bond enough for me to speak directly to her mind, but I wasn’t about to pass up the opportunity to have my mark on her and let the entire world know she was mine.

One month was far too long to wait for a ceremony. If I had my way, I’d drag her to that altar right now.

A soft gasp left her lips as my teeth broke skin. Her nails dug into my shoulders. She’d probably leave marks of her own there, and the thought made me even harder. I rolled my hips against hers, grinding shamelessly against her heat.

Retracting my fangs, I ran my tongue over the broken skin, and shuddered breath left her lips. I took a moment to look her over: glassy eyes, dazed expression and swollen lips. She was pure fucking perfection.

“You’re beautiful,” I whispered, running a thumb over her bottom lip.

A ghost of a smile formed on her lips. “You’re not too bad yourself, Kai.”

There was a foreign feeling in my chest. It bubbled up inside of me like an inferno, tightening like a noose around my throat. I’d never felt like this with another person before, and it fucking terrified me. This woman had me in the palm of her hands, and she didn’t even realize it. If she asked me to give up my entire kingdom right now, I would without a second thought.

I ached to say those three words to her, to let her know exactly how I felt, but I held back. I couldn’t say it and walk away from her tomorrow. That was cruel… even for me.

Instead, I kissed her. A slow, drugging kiss that told her everything my mouth couldn’t. She smiled into the kiss, hands wrapping around the back of my neck. I lifted her easily, her legs hooking around my hips as I walked her back into the room. There was a lot we needed to speak about, but surely, all of that could wait.

All that mattered now was her.

She lay spent on her stomach, her eyes closed as I traced little patterns over her back. A satisfied smile was permanent on her face, and the sight made my chest flutter.

“You’re fighting to keep your eyes open, Daisy, you should sleep I whispered.

“If I sleep now, you’ll be gone by tomorrow.”

My movements ceased immediately. I’d forgotten about our earer conversation.

She sighed, sitting up slowly, hands folded neatly in her laps. She was completely naked in front of me, but for once. I couldn’t even bring myself to focus on her naked body, my eyes were trained on her face and the emotions warring on her face

The mark on her neck hadn’t healed yet. It still looked like fresh eeth marks on her skin. By tomorrow it would heal over and become a symbol of our mating.

“I want to go with you, I really do, but,” she trailed off. “I don’t know how they’ll react to me, Kat I’m worried”

“About what?”

She shrugged. “The video still exists. I don’t know how many people still have it. They don’t like your pack-”

“Our pack,” I corrected. “It’s yours too”

She repeated the words with a soft smile. “I don’t know how they react to our mating. It may not be a happy homecoming. and I don’t want to cause any more problems.”

I understood her perfectly, but I was too selfish to care. I wanted ny mate with me, and everyone else could fuck themselves.

“No one will hurt you,” I assured her. “No one would dare say a word to you as long as I’m there, but Daisy, if you don’t want to go, then you don’t have to. You can stay here and help me rule our pack.”

Her eyes widened in panic. “What?”

“If I go, you’d be the next in line. Scarlett can help you.”

“But we’re not officially mated.”

I snorted. “Lycans don’t care much for official. As far as everyone is concerned, you’re already the Luna. The ceremony is just a formality.”

I could see the sheer worry and panic in her eyes so I pulled her closer. Her back was pressed against my chest, my hands wrapped around her torso. I placed a soft kiss on her shoulder blade, then another to her temple, until she’d relaxed a little in my arms.

“You’ll be an amazing Luna,” I whispered. “Scarlett will show you what you need to know. It isn’t difficult, I promise.”

“Easy for you to say, you’ve been doing it for years,” she mumbled.

I shrugged.

She was right, but so was I, she was a natural, she’d be fine.

“How long will you be gone?” she asked and I hesitated before responding.
