I spent the next half hour trying to decide what to wear.

Kai didn’t give me any hints as to where we were going or what we were doing. I tried asking but he shrugged and walked away, leaving me alone in the room.

I finally decided on a long sundress and sandals. I let my hair hang over my shoulders loosely and headed out in search of

Kai.

He wasn’t in the living room or the kitchen. I tried to mind link im but his wall was firmly up.

Where the hell did he go?

“What if he wants to propose?” my wolf asked and I snorted.

“Werewolves don’t propose. That’s a human tradition.”

“Maybe he wants to surprise us with a gift.”

“Let’s just focus on finding him first.”

“Kai!” I yelled out. “Where are you?”

“Out back,” his response came.

I headed towards the back of the house, stopping short by the doors. There was another scent mixed with Kai’s. It was familiar but I couldn’t put my finger on it. I stood there for a moment, trying to figure out who it was, but I kept coming up short.

Finally, I headed out and found Kai standing there, a small smile on his face.

“You remember Alaric, right?”

I gave the counsellor a short nod. “It’s nice to see you again.”

“Likewise, Luna,” he bowed.

I turned back to Kai. “What’s going on? Is there a problem?”

“No, I thought about our conversation earlier and called Alaric.”

It gave me a moment to realize what he was talking about and once I did, my mouth fell open.

I took a step back, searching his eyes for any sign that he was joking, but there was none. He looked dead serious as he stared

at me. We had that conversation less than an hour ago. How did he manage to get things handled so quickly.

“I can see that you have a million questions and I’d love to answer them all but I have to be on my way in an hour and I’d like to finish this before then.”

That spurred me out of my reverie. I took a step forward, taking Kai’s outstretched hand.

“Are you ready for this, Luna?” Alaric asked and I nodded. “You be an official member of this pack.”

“Good.”

The ceremony took all of five minutes.

It took me renouncing my old pack and Kai accepting me as one of his own. He had a smile on his face the entire time Once the ceremony was over, he pulled me in for a blinding kiss that had my toes curling and my heart hammering in my

chest.

“Congratulations,” Alaric said, bowing low to me as soon as Kai and I broke apart. “Welcome to the pack.”

“Thank you.”

“We need to talk sometime, Luna,” he said directly into my mind

It took a second for me to realize that he was communicating directly through my mind link. I fought to keep my expression neutral so Kai wouldn’t realize.

“What about?”

“Your old pack for one. Your mating as another. I hear Eva is back. You know she was betrothed to him.”

“I do.”

“Some members of the pack think that she is a better fit for him because she’s a lycan and you’re not.”

I swallowed deeply, calming myself before responding. “I can’t control how people feel about me, but we can talk later.”

He broke off the mind link, bowed low and walked out. I watched him disappear before turning my attention back to Kai who had his hands wrapped around my waist.

“How does it feel being a part of the pack?” he asked, his lips brushing my hair.

“The bond doesn’t feel much different from the one I had with my old pack, but it feels… unfamiliar.”

“You’ll get used to it, I promise.”

I knew I would.

I stood on my toes and pressed my lips to his. “Thank you.”

“There’s nothing to thank me for, baby. I want you as part of my back. I should’ve done this ages ago.”

He kissed me again, his tongue slipping into my mouth as his hands gripped my hips tightly. My fingers tangled into the curls on his hair. He lifted me easily, my legs wrapping around his waist as he deepened the kiss.

“Don’t you have somewhere to be?” I asked, momentarily breaking the kiss. “You have to travel.”

“After,” he whispered, kissing me back. “I need you right now.”

He walked us into the living room, lowering me onto the couch. His hands roamed my body, reaching for the straps of my dress and pulling them down. His rough hands ran over my tits, aking a perk nipple between his fingers and squeezing tightly.

My back arched off the couch. “Kai-”

“That’s my name, princess, don’t wear it out.”

His free hand reached for the hem of my dress, bunching it up ound my waist as he ground his hips into mine. My eyes rolled into the back of my head.

My lust filled haze was quickly cut short by the sound of a shrillang.

Kai froze above me, cursing aloud.
