I directed Damien towards my house
The closer we got, the tighter the noose around my neck got.

Damien was a good sport, he glanced at me every other second, rying to figure out if I was okay or not. I couldn’t bring myself to speak for fear that I’d chicken out of what I’d started. Seeing my father was a terrifying thought. The last time we spoke, we didn’t end on good terms.
“We don’t have to do this,” Damien whispered as we stopped in front of my house.
The weeds in front of the house had grown out, the paint was beginning to chip away. The house didn’t look lived in, but I could see the lights on in the living room and a shadow moving round inside.
“Unfortunately, I do.”
With a sigh, I got out of the car.
Damien walked ahead of me, heading straight for the front door and knocking. It took a few minutes for my father to finally open the door. He stared at Damien with disdain, his lip curled up.
“What do you want?” he snarled.
“From you? Nothing. I’m not the one who wants to see you.”
Damien stepped aside, giving me a full view of my father.
I was floored by how many new grey hairs he had atop his head and in his beard. He’d always looked stressed, but in the past few months, something had changed because it looked like all the life had been drained right out of him.
I opened my mouth to speak, but no words would come out.
I watched his expression change from disdain to shock to anger and finally disappointment. He took a step back, crossing his arms over his chest.
“Hi dad,” I whispered softly and he frowned.
“I don’t have a daughter.” His voice was gravelly and cold. “What do you want?”
I tried not to let his words hurt me. He’d disowned me long before I met Kai.
“Can I come in?”
He hesitated for a moment, and I genuinely thought he was going to refuse, but at the last minute, he stepped aside.
“I can’t exactly say no to the mate of the man who killed our Alpha and took over our pack, can I?”
I sighed deeply. “You know it isn’t like that.”
He ignored me and walked away, leaving Damien and I to follow behind him. I could feel Damien’s annoyance, but he was doing a good job at keeping it at bay.
We headed for the living room where dad sat with his hands folded neatly in his lap. He regarded me coldly, like I was a stranger he’d never seen before.
“What does your Alpha want? Hasn’t he taken enough from us aeady?”

Chapter 61
Tim not here because of Kat I said folding my hands in front of me Trame to see your
I see no reason why”
Can you stop this?” I snapped “You’re acting like a child. I understand that you may not be happy with my choices but if you hadn kicked me out. I would never have even met Kai If anything, this is your fault
“I sent you out for disgracing the pack,” he sneered “I didn’t ask you to go shack up with a fucking lycan”
“You sent me out because I was assaulted by Lucas and you didn’t want to deal with that. What was I supposed to do? Dier
“Yes” he screamed. “It would have been much better!”
Silence descended after his outburst.
No words could find their way past my throat. There was a huge knot that formed and it just wouldn’t go away Breathing became hard, but I tried to regulate it, tried to push my hurt away so that Kai wouldn’t feel it wherever he was.
“Apologize,” Damien growled, rising to his feet.
I held up a hand to stop him. “It’s fine.”
“No, it isn’t.” he shot my father a scathing look. “Your bastard of an Alpha took a compromising video of your daughter and showed it to everyone. He betrayed her trust and you didn’t even defend her? You’re a shit excuse of a father.”
Dad’s jaw clenched.
He obviously wasn’t used to being spoken to like that, but he wouldn’t dare talk back to Damien, not when his self control was being held back by a thin thread. He pursed his lips and turned away.
“You can judge me however you want. I want you both out of my house.”
“Okay.” I agreed, rising to my feet. “I don’t even know what I hoped to achieve. I thought maybe you’d see reason. You know he came into my pack and tried to hurt me, right?”
Dad stilled, but didn’t say a word.
“He kidnapped me, he hit me and he planned to bring me back. You may hate Kai, but even you know that killing him was justified because he tried to hurt another Alpha’s mate.”
Dad swallowed before speaking. “You should never have been his mate in the first place.”
“I’m sorry that’s the place you’ve chosen to stand on,” I said finally, smoothing down my dress. “I hope I never see you again.”
“Likewise.”
He walked us to the door.
We’d barely stepped out when I remembered something else.
I turned to him. “Humor me this once, dad, did you know?”
“Know what?”
“That Lucas was involved with hunters?”
His eyes grew harsh and the veins at the side of his head popped “How dare you accuse him of that? I don’t know what the fuck your mate has told you-”
