Chapter 104
What could be more despairing than this?
They had exhausted themselves smashing down an entire wall, only to find another wall behind it—but this time, it was pure steel.
Forget the fact that all they had were sledgehammers. Even if they had hydraulic cutters, how long would it take to slice through a steel wall like this?
And taking ten thousand steps back–even if they did have such equipment, would they even have electricity to run it?
Under the current conditions, this wall was effectively indestructible.
The more exhilarated they had been just moments ago, the deeper their despair now ran.
So what now?
Everyone turned to Bruce, who frowned deeply.
He hadn’t anticipated this outcome either, and for a moment, he had no idea what to do.
“Ray actually turned his villa into something this impregnable,” Bruce said with a sigh.
Ray had bought the villa and then hired people to renovate it before moving in. Many people knew that much. But everyone had assumed it was just a simple remodel. Who could have imagined this?
This was clearly the construction of an unassailable fortress.
The others shared a moment of lamentation, but that wasn’t the point. They didn’t need sighs–they needed a solution, a way to breach this fortress of steel and concrete.
Just then, a hole suddenly appeared in the wall, and Ray’s voice came through.
“It’s the middle of the night. Don’t you people sleep? Aren’t you afraid of disturbing the neighbors, banging away like that?”
The group was startled at first, then quickly calmed down.
They’d been making such a racket that not only Ray in the villa, but people in other buildings must have heard it too.
“Ray, if you have something to say, come out and say it,” Bruce replied coolly. “Didn’t you put a bounty on my head? Well, here I am. If you’ve got the ability, come and take it.”
It sounded bold and righteous enough–but Ray was alone. And how many men did Bruce have?
Was that fair?
Ray chuckled. “Bruce, I’ll give you this–you do have the makings of a leader. My bounty didn’t get you killed. Instead, it helped you build momentum. But first, your people are nothing more than a mob. And second, I’ve simply been too lazy to raise the price. Otherwise–hehe–believe it or not, your little force would collapse on the spot.”
Bruce burst out laughing. “Fine. Name your price. The higher you set it, the more it proves how much supply you’re sitting on. And when we drag you out and kill you, our haul will only be bigger. Why wait for charity from you when we can just take it ourselves?”
Bruce was a true businessman–he knew exactly how to stir people’s emotions.
Why accept handouts when robbery would yield even more?
In an instant, the hesitation that had lingered in some eyes vanished, replaced by firm resolve.
Ray merely smiled. If he were to lay out a full feast right now, would Bruce still be so calm and eloquent?

But he couldn’t be bothered.
“Bruce, I’m right here,” he said with a smile. “So how exactly do you plan to get my supplies? You can dress it up with pretty words all you want, but in the end, you’re feeding people with empty promises. Do you really think they’ll stay stupid forever and let you manipulate them?”
Bruce replied evenly, “So you plan to keep hiding in there, like a turtle with its head tucked into its shell?”
Right now, provoking Ray was the only card he had left. If he could get Ray to come out on his own, there might still be a chance. Otherwise, he truly had no solution.
Break through a steel fortress like this? Impossible.
Ray smiled. “How about this, Bruce–I’ll make you a deal.”
