The Gantt family raged for a while, but in the end, there was nothing they could do except leave in frustrati
They decided to eat out.
Normally, Daisy bought groceries during the day, then waited for Ray to come home in the evening to cook. The whole family would sit around waiting for dinner. At lunch the next day, Josh and his wife would eat the leftovers, refusing to cook for themselves even though it would have made more sense to cook at noon and eat fresh food at night.
Lazy, that’s what they were. As long as Ray was there to be ordered around, why bother lifting a finger?
Now that their cook was gone, Daisy refused to step into the kitchen. And since they were about to come into money, they decided to be generous they’d treat themselves to a restaurant meal.
–
They picked Lunaria, a restaurant right outside Mallory Avenue. The average cost per person was not exactly cheap.
Ray followed them from a distance. Over the past few days, he had struck blow after blow at the Gantt family, yet every time he thought of how they’d torn him apart – piece by piece – the anger flared up again.
No, he wasn’t done. Not yet.
He dialed Lucy’s number.
“Ms. Fraser, free for dinner? … Yes, now. … Great, I’ll send you the location.”
He hung up and sent her the address for Lunaria.
Her reply came fast: [I’ll be there in twenty minutes.]
Ray stepped inside the restaurant and soon spotted the Gantt family on the second floor. He chose a table three spots away from them and sat down.
–
He ordered eight dishes all on the pricier side
and settled in to wait.
Naturally, the Gantts noticed him. The air between them grew thick with discomfort.
They had come here to eat, and now, Ray showed up here too? Who’d believe that was a coincidence?
Unbelievable.
Then Lauren’s phone rang. She glanced at the screen – it was Cathy Frost, a close colleague and her best friend at the hospital.
She answered, and Cathy’s anxious voice burst through immediately, “Lauren, check the Senna City forum, now! There’s a post saying you and Dr. Sanders have an affair. The post also says that Michael is Dr. Sanders’s kid! It’s blowing up!”
“What?” Lauren’s face drained of color. She said a few quick words to Cathy, then hung up and opened the forum.
Sure enough, right below the pinned post, one headline dominated the page.
[Breaking! Orthopedic doctor Zac Sanders and nurse Lauren Gantt maintain a long–term illicit relationship and have a child together!]
The post was exploding – thousands of comments, sky–high engagement.

Her knees nearly buckled. She steadied herself, forcing composure, and opened the thread.
After reading, she exhaled slightly in relief. The title was real enough, but the rest was all fabricated nonsens claims about them “getting it on in the locker room.”
Ridiculous. They weren’t that stupid.
Still… who leaked the news?
Her eyes flicked toward Ray. Who else could it be?
She hadn’t expected this. Four years of marriage, he’d always played the meek, obedient husband, doing whatever he was told. But now she realized – it had all been an act.
He wasn’t a lamb. He was a wolf in sheep’s clothing.
—
He’d hidden marital assets and now stabbed her in the back a petty, vindictive man if there ever was one.
