Chapter 143
“Yes! Of course!” Cassandra nodded repeatedly, her will to resist completely gone.
She was just an office clerk, a civil service entrant who had never thrown a punch in her life–a genuine weak woman. Facing a man capable of killing a mutated beast like that husky, how could she possibly resist?
Ray knew her compliance was purely out of necessity; her mind was clearly elsewhere.
But that didn’t matter.
For one, he had never cared about winning a woman’s heart. And two, after surviving the hardships outside and then enjoying the comforts of a villa, which woman wouldn’t fall for it and willingly become his? Look at Honey and the others–if he tried to drive them away now, not one of them would agree.
The only issue was whether his modest villa could hold all the new women he might bring home.
Ray rubbed his nose.
He’d been careless. He should have bought a bigger villa from the start.
But in the neighborhood, there was only one villa. Where would he have found a larger one? To get a bigger villa, he’d have to move elsewhere–and that would make his plan for revenge on his ex–wife inconvenient.
Ah, whatever. It was too late to redo things now. Besides, he wasn’t without the ability to move. If he found a better villa or building later, he could just relocate.
Ray’s thoughts drifted to Lindsay’s apocalypse fortress. Hmm, that could serve as a backup option. But considering his connection to Lucy, she was at least a semi–familiar person, and he felt hesitant about acting on that.
Besides, his current villa wasn’t cramped at all. Even ten women could live there comfortably.
Ray returned to the armory and collected everything he needed.
With a wave of his hand, items disappeared into his spatial pocket. Cassandra’s mouth fell open in astonishment, unable to close, completely stunned.
With everything secured, Ray got into the car with Cassandra. A glance at the clock–already past three in the afternoon–told him there was still time to collect more fuel.
Might as well grab another batch before heading back.
“It’s so warm!” Cassandra exclaimed, amazed by the car’s cozy interior, her face radiating satisfaction.
Ray only smiled. Once she returned to the villa, she’d be even more pleased.
He drove toward the nearest gas station, having already scouted it on his map and set his own navigation.
“Turn left ahead.
“Go straight at the next intersection.
“… arrived.”
Cassandra already knew a little of his abilities. Seeing abandoned cars blocking the way, Ray simply sent them into his spatial pocket as they came into view. Each time, her eyes went wide in astonishment.
At the station, he did the same: effortlessly collecting four tanks of fuel–94, 95, 98 octane, and diesel.
All set. Time to leave.
But just as he was about to drive off, a dense fog seemed to rise from nowhere, instantly blanketing the entire world. Visibility
