Chapter 166
Cold sweat began to bead on Brandon’s forehead.
Ray was definitely a problem–a huge one.
An ability user.
It hit him instantly. There was no doubt about it.
But what kind of ability was this? Deflecting attacks?
If so, then this guy was practically invincible by nature. How were you supposed to fight someone like that?
For a moment, Brandon seriously considered retreating, But outside, the cold was murderous. They had barely managed to non from the dorms to the cafeteria before–could they make it back now?
They’d freeze to death.
Then there was only one option left. Fight.
Brandon let out a roar and began hurling the basketballs around him one after another.
But what use was it?
No–there was an effect. Every time he threw a ball, another male student went down. At this point, Ray didn’t even bother pretending anymore. He couldn’t be bothered to fine–tune the trajectories. Everyone could clearly see it now: the basketballs flew in straight lines, but the moment they reached Ray, their paths inexplicably bent away.
As more students fell, the rest were terrified and scattered in all directions. But even as they fled, basketballs struck the backs of their heads, killing them on the spot.
Brandon was drenched in cold sweat. Could Ray’s ability really be attack deflection?
An ability like that made him effectively immortal–and he even had a gun.
How could a human dodge bullets?
Brandon panicked, sweat pouring down his face.
After the catastrophe, life had been harsh, but with his ability, he had naturally become the group’s unquestioned leader. Everyone flattered him, currying favor. At meals, he chose first. Only he ever ate his fill.
So he hadn’t particularly hated the disaster.
And besides, they were students on a university campus. Their moral collapse had been slower. To this day, they had maintained a bottom line. There hadn’t been serious atrocities, because they all believed the disaster would eventually pass, that the government would come to rescue them.
If they committed evil acts now, wouldn’t they be wiped out later?
But as food grew scarcer, some girls had begun edging closer to him, dropping hints.
They were offering their bodies in exchange for his permission–permission to receive a bit more food, enough to avoid starving to death.
Brandon had even entertained the thought of killing off the other men and keeping only the women. For now, it had remained just a thought. He hadn’t acted on it.
But now? His position was about to crumble. His life was in danger.
In that moment, regret flooded him. If he’d known this would happen, he should have cast aside his scruples sooner and

indulged himself.
Then even if he died now, at least he would have enjoyed himself first.
“I surrender!” Brandon raised both hands. Compared to his life, what couldn’t he give up?
