Chapter 176
Ray raised an eyebrow, a flicker of surprise in his eyes. Jess was a virgin.
“Surprised?” Jess slipped an arm around him, her tone playful. “Looking like this, you wouldn’t expect me to be… untouched, would you?”
Ray chuckled. “No, I wouldn’t call you ‘innocent.‘ Your innocent act is strong. Let me guess–nobody around you was ever interesting enough to catch your eye. You’ve been aiming higher, haven’t you?”
“You read me so well!” Jess said with admiration. “I’m not some trophy girlfriend. I got into Senna University on my own grades. If my parents hadn’t wanted me close to home, I could’ve made it into Gohaven’s top university easily.”
Ray gave a thumbs–up. “Impressive.”
His own grades were decent, but even he could only get into Senna University. She really was a sharp one.
“I studied hard to build that ‘talented, elegant‘ image. That way, I could marry into real money,” Jess admitted with a mischievous grin. “I wasn’t studying to be some independent career woman and make my own fortune.”
“Too bad the apocalypse hit–all my plans went up in smoke.” She sighed, a little regretful. “If I’d known, I wouldn’t have pushed myself so hard. Honestly, I hate studying. I love going out and having fun!”
Ray smiled. A woman so focused on marrying well naturally guarded her reputation closely.
‘Hah… convenient for me,‘ he thought happily.
He found it amusing. Bring a type like Jess into his home and just watch her play off the other girls. It was entertainment enough. What more did he need? Watching her spar with the other would be its own kind of fun.
He walked Jess back downstairs.
Seeing how close they looked, anyone with half a brain could guess what had happened upstairs. No wonder Ray had volunteered to take the clothes up himself.
Each of the three women–Cassandra, Molly, Katie–watching had her own thoughts, but who among them had any right to object?
Even Katie understood the situation. Molly had explained it plainly, giving her two choices:
Stay in the villa–and become Ray’s woman… or leave.
If Katie chose to leave, Molly would go with her. They’d face whatever came next–freezing, starving, suttering–together.
Naturally, Katie’s first instinct was to leave.
Really, what kind of era was this, where a bunch of women competed for one man’s attention, and even sisters had to share the same guy?
But Molly had laid out the reality: the horrors of Building 4, the killing, the cannibalism, the worst possible fates for women Inside the university, there was still some semblance of order, a kind of innocence that only students could cling to
Outside? It was the law of the jungle. Survival of the fittest.
Katie sat in stunned silence, needing time to process it all.
But seeing Jess so close to Ray now, she couldn’t help feeling annoyed. And when she saw the lavish feast lahl out in front of him, her resolve wavered even more.
Over twenty days into the disaster–what had she been eating? Leftovers, cold scraps. Even after the poisonous fail stopped and Doug brought back supplies, it was just cold bread and instant noodles. How long bad it been since she’d had a lot meal? And

now, this… an extravagant spread.
Ray leaned close to Molly. “My resources are only for my women. If your sister refuses to make a deal with me, then you’ll cover her share. So… after this meal, you owe me four days.”
Molly could only nod. Debt or no debt, she’d already accepted her fate.
“Eat!”
The five of them sat down. The table comfortably seated six and could expand to ten–space wasn’t an issue.
Ray, used to meals like this, ate casually. But for Molly, Katie, and Jess, it was their first feast in ages. Shock, delight, and gratitude swirled together–especially for Jess. She was beyond relieved. Her gamble had paid off.
Even Cassandra hadn’t eaten this well lately and wasn’t much more composed.
The table was nearly silent except for the soft clatter of utensils against bowls.
