My Reborn Apocalypse Begins with a Divorce novel Chapter 21

Chapter 21

Ray had already ordered mountains of dishware and containers online; each day, another shipment arrived. He wouldn’t have to worry about making supermarket runs for dishware.

Over the next few days, he ran the same routine. He bought 1000 meals daily, each batch cooked by a different restaurant. He rotated vendors so nobody got suspicious.

Everything else he ordered arrived on schedule and was routed straight to the warehouse. Even burning through money like this, a day’s spending rarely topped 100 thousand.

He wasn’t worried about cash flow at all. Once he cashed out on his stocks, he’d have trucks hauling supplies nonstop. Thirty days of blitz could easily rack up a 200 or even 300 million bill.

Lucy and Keisha pinged him every day.

Lucy kept a measured, proud, reserved frontlike she expected him to court her. Keisha, having heard about the 50 million prize, went fullon eager.

Ray refused to start another marriage; he didn’t answer either of them. More important things filled his hours now. When things quieted, he’d consider it.

Meanwhile, his appeal was accepted; the court would hold the first hearing tomorrow.

At the end of the day, Lauren came home drained. Today in court, Chuck had produced a pile of damaging evidence: the paternity test between Ray and Michael, proof of Ray’s income, and documentation of annual living expenses. The lawyers suggested she settlepay 205,000 dollars.

Their calculation went like this: combined income over four years came to 360,000 dollars. After necessary living expenses were deducted, the net was 260,000; half of that was 130,000. Plus 75,000 for emotional damages, which brought the total up to 205,000 dollars.

Chuck had initially proposed 150,000 dollars for emotional damage. He’d emphasized that Ray would donate the money to charity. That angle had put the judge in his favor.

205,000 dollars. Lauren’s head ached.

Did she have that kind of money? No. Most of it had already been taken by her parents to subsidize M

But the law was the law. There was no way she could defy it.

Dad, Mom,she told them, voice flat, we’ll probably lose this case. We owe Ray 205,000 dollars.

What? 205,000 dollars?Josh jumped to his feet. Why the hell doesn’t he just rob us?

Exactly,Daisy snorted. How dare he ask for so muchhe’s crazy for money.

festyle.

Lauren laid out the math. Ray and I made about 90,000 a year togetherover four years, that’s 360,000. Annual expenses roughly 25,000, so subtract the necessary cost and you get 260,000. Half is 130,000, plus 75,000 for emotional damagestotal 205,000.

Josh’s face hardened. Why are you telling us this? It’s your marital propertyyou find a way to pay him.

Lauren flared. Dad, you and Mom spent almost all of mine and Ray’s wages. I have less than 15,000 in my account. Where am I supposed to get 205,000 dollars?
