If you asked Ray, he really didn’t want to deal with someone like Logan–someone who preyed on other men. But Logan had an ability.
For the sake of getting stronger, Ray decided to face Logan.
Ray reactivated his spatial perception. Once he locked onto Logan’s position, he kicked the door open and stormed in.
Immediately, more than a dozen kinetic steel bars shot forward, and even faster than them were over a dozen bullets.
“Shit!”
Bullets traveled fast, but ability users generally possessed danger premonition. Logan’s instinct reacted faster than his conscious mind–his body flashed with golden light and instantly transformed into living metal.
But there was a problem. He wasn’t standing still. So Wayne was the unlucky one.
This was a real, literal blowout.
“Ahhh-!” Wayne let out an agonized scream, only for it to cut off abruptly. Ray was using saturation firepower to kill Logan, and the kill zone was a bit too wide–Wayne was caught in it.
་
A stray bullet blew his head apart. If that hadn’t killed him, the two steel bars that pierced straight through his body certainly would have. At least, it spared him further pain.
“Who the hell are you?!” Logan shouted in shock.
Bullets alone wouldn’t have surprised him, but bullets combined with steel bars? That was bizarre enough to rattle him.
As if Ray would stop to answer.
This was a fight to the death, not some hot–blooded comic where people traded monologues.
Ray kept firing steel bars.
Why steel bars instead of bullets?
First, Logan wasn’t fast–there was no way he could dodge them. Second, the kinetic energy of steel bars actually exceeded that of bullets. Third, steel bars were easy to obtain–and reusable. Fourth, they could block movement and restrict space.
With all that combined, steel bars were the obvious choice,
Every rod struck Logan’s body, sparks flying everywhere. Under the impacts, dents formed across his metallic frame–but no skin broke, and not a drop of blood spilled.
Logan looked like a robot.
Incredible. He could tank bullets and kinetic steel bars with his body alone. Even Ray couldn’t do that
But Logan had his own unspoken agony.
Abilities weren’t limitless. Under normal circumstances, he only metalized parts of his body for killing, breaking doors, or torturing people. Wayne had experienced that firsthand. Even then, he could only sustain it for a little over ten minutes.
Full–body metalization slashed that duration by a factor of a hundred
So how long did he have? Just over ten seconds
Once the ability ran out, he’d revert to an ordinary human.
And how could an ordinary human withstand this kind of attack?

He wanted to beg for mercy. But would Ray give him the chance? Hell, Logan didn’t even know who Ray was.
From the very first second, Ray’s attack had been ruthless, lethal–clearly meant to kill him outright.
It was insane.
What was ten seconds, really? Logan’s “metal body” finally shattered as a steel bar pierced straight through his chest. Knowing he couldn’t escape death, he asked unwillingly, “Who… who are you? Why-”
Before he could finish, more than a dozen steel bars slammed into him in rapid succession, turning him into a human pincushion.
What was the point of showing off to a dying man? Only a thoroughly dead corpse was a good corpse.
Ray rushed forward immediately and absorbed the ability while it was still fresh.
He didn’t dare wait–abilities could dissipate over time. This was no moment to gamble.
