My Reborn Apocalypse Begins with a Divorce novel Chapter 55

The night passed, and the apocalypse entered its fourth daythe most despairfilled day of all.

Today, the power would go out.

Outside, the temperature had plunged to well below freezing. Without airconditioning or heating, how were people supposed to survive?

If someone had prepared in advance, they might have built a heated brick bed or improvised a stove. But this disaster had arrived without warning. For city dwellers, it was a sentence of pure despair.

Starting today, civilization, order, and morality would completely collapse.

Calling this day the true prelude to doomsday,

be an exaggeration.

He remembered that in his previous life, the blackout had started around noon. He didn’t know whether this time would be any different.

It probably wouldn’t.

He stopped thinking about it.

Even if the power didn’t go out today, it would tomorrow, or the day after. With no one maintaining the power stations, how could electricity possibly continue?

It was only a matter of being early or late.

He played with Leo, and Leo happily played backleaping and bouncing around. Though bursting with energy, it didn’t wreck the house, which made Ray love it even more.

Standing by the window, he looked outside. Everything was shrouded in thick fog, dim and heavy.

It would be like this for at least another ten days. Who knew when the sky would finally clear?

Ray suddenly missed the sun.

Noon arrived quickly, and Ray sat down to eat.

Leo devoured its food with equal enthusiasm.

Suddenly, the lights flickered, and every other appliance blinked off and on at the same time.

Ray understood at once. The power was out.

However, he had already connected a backup power supplya bank of storage batteries.

He also had a generator, but that required diesel to run. Although he had stockpiled some diesel, it wasn’t nearly enough to keep a generator running day and night.

But he had prepared huge numbers of storage batteries, all fully chargedmore than a thousand units. They would be enough to last him a very, very long time.

At that moment, his phone exploded with messages.

The electricity had indeed gone out, but many base stations still had backup power and could hold on for another day or two.

But what was the point of phones by themselves?

Without air-conditioning and electric blankets, people would freeze to death.

The group chats were flooded with wails and curses. The blackout became the final straw that crushed the camel’s

back.

It was over. Truly over.

Three full days had passed. If rescue were coming, it would have arrived long ago. Now the power was gone, and in a few days, even cell signals would disappear.

When that happened, they would be completely helpless.

Ray shook his head. From here on, everyone would turn violent out of despair.

And for certain evil people, this disaster would release the darkness buried deep in their genes.

Because now, they no longer needed restraint. Once communication collapsed, humanity would essentially return

to primitive times. At that point, even if someone committed monstrous crimes, who would ever know? Who would punish them?

For ordinary people, the apocalypse was hell. But for the wicked, it was paradise.

Knock, knock, knock.
