So… where had Ray gotten a gun and bullets?

And a rifle, no less!

Could this guy have been in the military before? But even if he were, could a soldier just bring a rifle home? Clearly not.

Electra felt a twinge of confusion, a flicker of hesitation. Maybe she shouldn’t provoke this mysterious man. After all, the bodies piled up outside were proof enough.

But then she reminded herself of her advantage: beauty.

And Ray’s weakness? Lust.

“I can make this work,” she told herself. “And if I succeed, I should be able to enjoy a comfortable life for a long

time.”

She decided to take the risk.

No longer hesitating, Electra stepped into the corridor and slipped off her coat. Even though she shivered violently from the cold, she forced herself to stay composed. She used her phone’s light to highlight her face–she wanted to make sure Ray could see exactly what a beauty she was.

Bang, bang, bang.

She pounded on the iron door.

It was impressively thick.

She whistled softly. By her professional standards, even a hefty amount of C4 wouldn’t breach this door. It was more secure than a typical bank vault.

She waited for Ray to appear.

Meanwhile, Ray had noticed her.

He wondered which building this woman was from. He couldn’t possibly know every resident, but someone this striking–even if he’d never met her–would be hard to miss. He clicked his tongue, then asked, “Who are you, and what do you want?”

“I… I’m Lily Perkins,” she said in the weakest, most delicate tone she could muster. “I… I want something to eat.”

Ray glanced at the surveillance feed, confirmed she was alone, and remotely unlocked the iron door. As Electra stepped inside, he shut it again.

The door was controlled both by remote and fingerprint. Once closed, anyone outside could only stare helplessly.

Her heart tightened. In her mind, Ray was now tagged as a possible ex–soldier, sniper, and hand–to–hand combat expert. Facing him alone made her nerves tense.

But the place was warm.

She had taken off her winter coat to highlight her figure, shivering in the freezing cold. Now, with the heating on, she felt no chill at all.

Perfect.

Even better, there was light.

Her heart raced, but she kept her expression demure, asking softly, “Where are you?”

Ray’s voice came from behind a screen, “Take off your clothes.”

“What?!” Electra couldn’t believe her ears. This was way too fast.

Ray smiled–not out of lust, but because something about this woman felt off. He needed to know if she was armed.
