My Runaway Groom Came Back I Became His Aunt! novel Chapter 33

Chapter 9

“Summer, you don’t have to do that…” His eyes reddened.

I continued calmly. “You can visit Elio once a week. No more than two hours.”

He froze for a moment. Then a bright smile spread across his face. “Really? You’ll let me see him?”

“He has the right to know who his father is.”

“Thank you… thank you!”

I took Elio’s hand and climbed the stairs.

On the landing of the third floor, I turned back for one last look.

Luca was still standing below, looking up at us.

“Summer!” he shouted. “I’ll wait! Even if it takes forever, I’ll wait!”

I closed the door.

A month later, I had the tattoo removed.

It hurt even more than the first time, but I endured it. As the ink slowly faded away, I felt a strange sense of

peace.

I used the interest from Elio’s trust fund to pay for his tuition, and life gradually returned to normal.

Every Saturday, Luca took Elio to the park, museums, and the zoo. He was trying, in his own way, to be a

father.

Sometimes Elio would ask, “Mom, why won’t you forgive Dad and let us be a family again?”

I ruffled his hair gently. “Some wounds can’t be healed with just an apology.”

“But Dad is trying really hard. He always asks about you and leaves snacks for me. When you were sick, he

didn’t sleep all night.”

“I know.”

But my heart had died seven years ago.

Three years later, I finished paying the final installment.

Luca called me, stunned. “You didn’t have to do that.”

“I did. Now we’re even.”

He was silent for a while before asking quietly, “Can I still see Elio?”

“He’s your son. Of course.”
