Chapter 501: It’s a Decoy Home!

[Di Carpio’s]

"They took the bait."

Scott lowered the radio and looked at Marshal.

"Hahaha!" Marshal laughed heartily. "Finally!"

For the past several hours, this was what Marshal had been waiting for.

Scott’s plan was simple.

They would create a decoy safe house and discreetly leak its location. They even hired a new set of mercenaries to guard the place to make it more convincing. In fact, they had stationed almost the same number of mercenaries there as they had at the real safe house.

It was a brilliant plan.

And finally, after hours of waiting, someone had walked right into it.

Marshal rose to his feet, his eyes eager. "How many?"

"We’re not sure yet," Scott answered. "But one of them triggered the perimeter. That means they’ve closed in."

A small, cruel smile crept onto Marshal’s face.

"Haha."

Marshal approached the team gathered around the table and leaned forward, nodding approvingly.

On one of the screens was live footage from a drone hovering around the decoy mansion. It was dark, so they could only make out several figures moving through the woods.

"There they are..." Marshal hissed, his eyes glinting with malice.

Scott stood behind him, staring at the screen as his throat bobbed.

He could see that the men surrounding the mansion were wearing black tactical gear. It was impossible to tell who they were, but the thought that they might be Ashley’s forces pressed against his chest like a boulder.

After a moment, Marshal’s order finally echoed through the room.

"Kill them all." He smirked, keeping his eyes on the screen. "I don’t care who these people are anymore. Just kill all of them."

He could figure out who was behind everything later.

This time, all Marshal wanted was to hurt his enemy just as much as they had hurt him.

The man seated beside Marshal nodded.

"Yes, sir." He pressed his earpiece. "Big boss said green."

The man paused before giving the order without a second of hesitation. "Blow them all up."

Marshal raised his brows, staring intensely at the screen.

And then—

BOOM!

Scott looked away the second the entire mansion exploded.

The blast tore through the building, sending bodies flying as more explosions erupted around the surrounding woods.

A lump formed in Scott’s throat, and his hand curled into a fist.

I’m sorry.

Ashley’s face flashed across his mind. A complicated mix of emotions swirled in Scott’s chest as he thought about what had just happened.

He had warned her.

She should’ve known that he was willing to help her destroy the other facilities. She could go crazy on them, and he wouldn’t interfere.

But a direct attack on Marshal while Scott was around?

Ashley knew he would fight her if it came to that.

A deep exhale escaped Scott as Marshal’s laughter filled the room.

He shifted his gaze back to the screen.

Fire had engulfed the mansion and was quickly spreading through the surrounding woods.

"HAHAHA!" Marshal laughed, celebrating his victory. "Die! You bastards! Die!"

Minutes ago...

A group of armed men slowly approached the mansion from the woods after taking down the mercenaries guarding the area.

Their steps were careful and almost silent as they moved between the trees, weapons raised and eyes constantly scanning their surroundings.

The mansion was already visible from where they were.

It stood in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by thick woods and nothing but darkness.

One of the men raised his hand, and everyone behind him stopped. He scanned the area before signaling them to continue.

The group moved again, slowly and carefully, until—

Click.

The man leading the group froze. His eyes widened as he slowly lowered his gaze toward his foot.
