When Ashley said she would revive these guys’ dying souls from boredom, she meant it from the bottom of her heart.
But for them, this was not a revival at all!
It was a whole new reason to appreciate life and the peace they once had.
They knew she was not in her right mind, but this? This woman just proved to them right now that was the word to put it politely, she was unhinged!
"Watch out!" a shout came from the backseat, his entire body almost fusing with the seat as he gasped. "We’re gonna—"
SCREECH!
The four guys in the back fought against the force as the car made another abrupt turn, their bodies slamming to the side before they stabilized again. All of them, now strapped in with seatbelts, gasped as they stared straight ahead.
"We’re still alive," another one blurted, pure horror etched on his face. But deep down, he knew it was far from over.
"Not for long!" the other yelled. "We’re gonna crash!"
"Hey!" Red shouted from the front passenger seat, gripping the handle with all his might.
The guys at the back were already panicking—what more for him, who had a front-row view of everything?
He glared at the driver’s seat. "Slow down—you’re not on the freeway!"
If anything, they were still on the streets. Although there weren’t many people in this redevelopment area, the route was a shortcut to the airport. Even so, the streets were narrow, and there was a speed limit. Obviously, the speed limit was not being followed.
Hitting someone wasn’t even their concern anymore; it was crashing!
But Ashley ignored the shouts from both the front and the back, keeping her focus ahead.
"What are you—" Red’s breath hitched as something caught his eye. He turned toward the windshield, his mouth parting, but no words came out.
A road bump!
He wanted to tell her to slow down for the umpteenth time, but it was too late. Red could only grit his teeth as he braced for impact.
"Oh, no, oh no..." the guys mumbled, their hearts stopping.
At that speed, when they hit the bump, all of them were thrown up and slammed back down violently.
"Ack—!" the men in the back groaned in unison.
The car lifted slightly off the road before landing hard, and just as quickly, Ashley made another sharp turn. The tires screeched against the asphalt, piercing their ears.
"We’re almost at the freeway!" she shouted calmly as she regained control of the wheel. "It’s okay, it’s okay!"
It’s okay?
OKAY?!
None of this was okay!
The men in the back—and even Red—stared at the driver’s seat, their jaws dropping in disbelief. Their pupils shrank, but none of them could find the words to respond.
"Are you being serious?!" Red snapped after a moment, now that the car had stabilized. "How were you even given a driver’s license with driving like this?!"
Ashley raised a brow before turning her head completely toward him. Her action earned a collective gasp and panicked shouts.
"What are you doing?! Look ahead!"
"Watch out! Eyes on the road!"
