Back in the mansion, Nolan paced back and forth while Primo sat on the couch. Betty, on the other hand, stood nearby with a conflicted expression.
The young master simply watched Nolan, his eyes sliding from left to right as he tracked the butler’s movements. When Primo felt slightly dizzy, he shook his head and picked up his drawing board.
[Nolan, you should sit down.]
Nolan paused in his tracks and read the letters. Even Betty glanced at it before nodding.
"The young master is right, Head Butler," Betty remarked in agreement. "If the madam said she’s going to take them back, I think... she would."
"But she might not reach them in time," Nolan replied worriedly. "Unless she drives fast—really fast—the chances are low."
Little did he know, the guards with her were currently screaming their heads off at how fast she was maneuvering the car.
For Nolan, it was best for Lucian to stay and reconcile with Ashley.
Instead of doing what he always does.
Lucian would only stay around longer whenever Ashley tried to escape, as another form of punishment. She hated him, after all. But whenever things were looking up, he would leave just to give her some space. He never said it outright, but for Lucian, leaving and not showing up in front of her was the best thing he could give her.
He believed it would make her happy.
What Nolan feared most was Lucian missing this chance with Ashley, and that this distance would only widen the gap between them.
The madam finally wants to open her heart to Dominion, and if he leaves now, I’m worried that the distance between them will only widen even more.
Nolan pondered, then looked at the young master, and then at Betty.
"We have to do something," he declared. "At the very least, we need to buy her some time."
Primo and Betty blinked, staring at the determined head butler, who was rarely this enthusiastic about anything. If anything, Nolan was always composed and calm—someone who carried the aura of experience and wisdom.
Primo quickly wrote down, [How?]
"How about you call them, Head Butler?" Betty suggested. "Maybe if you told them they forgot something, they would turn back?"
[Impossible.] Primo wrote again, showing it to her, and then added more. [They never forget things.]
Even if they did, it wouldn’t be enough to stop them.
[How about you tell them I started singing?]
Nolan and Betty stared at Primo’s drawing pad as the little boy held it up like a judge presenting a score. Primo pressed his lips together as he studied their conflicted reactions.
A bad idea? he thought.
"Just tell them the madam is coming after them," Betty suggested. "Maybe that’ll make them stop."
Primo and Nolan turned to Betty, considering her suggestion. But then, both young and old imagined the sequence of events if they did that.
All they could picture was Lucian ordering his men to move faster to avoid her.
Their faces soured at the thought, and Betty let out an awkward laugh upon seeing their expressions.
"The idea is that bad, huh?" she chuckled faintly.
[If all else fails, singing is still an option.]
He’s been hanging out with the madam a little too much.
Meanwhile, Lucian had his eyes closed, his fingers pressing against his temple. His head throbbed relentlessly—unsurprising, considering he hadn’t gotten a wink of sleep the night before.

As Gustav settled back into his seat, he felt his phone vibrate against his chest. Taking it out, he frowned upon seeing [Mansion] on the screen. That meant Nolan was calling.
