Chapter 795
“How fucking convenient,” I spat, “Blame all of this on me again, just like you always do.”
He sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose, like I was the one making his life difficult.
“I’m not blaming you.” He lowered his hand. “I just need time. I need to buy enough time to get control of this Council mess and get those fucking Capones off our backs for good.”
A dry laugh slipped from me, “Yeah. Good luck with that. Buy all the time you want. It doesn’t change what he is. He’s a fucking monster,” I swallowed hard, “And so are you.”
“I know.”
The answer stopped me for half a second.
He continued, “I know exactly what he is and what I am,” Dad looked toward the yacht, “But we need him.”
“You need him?” I stepped toward him, even with Leone holding me, “You took everything from me because you believed some lie about fixing us. Then you found out the lie was worthless and instead of stopping, you found another way to use the people you already destroyed.”
Dad’s expression hardened, “We have enemies. We have people waiting for us to weaken.”
“Good,” I smiled through the tears burning my eyes, “Maybe they’ll finish what you started.”
“Don’t say that.”
“Why? Does it hurt?”
He looked away for a moment.
I pushed harder, “You want me to understand the business? Fine. I understand it now. You need Vance because Vance keeps your little machine running. He keeps people alive long enough for you to take them apart. He makes you money.”
Dad’s silence told me everything.
“So if I kill him,” I said quietly, “your entire operation falls apart. The whole syndicate falls apart.”
Dad tilted his head to the side, “You really think you’re going to kill him?”
“I don’t think,” I pulled against the restraints until the rope bit deeper into my skin, “I know. Don’t underestimate me.”
Leone grabbed my arm again, “Walk.”
I resisted, so he pulled harder. I stumbled forward. The yacht rocked slightly as I reached the boarding ramp.
My stomach turned.
The gap between the dock and boat wasn’t large, but with my hands tied behind me, even stepping across it felt dangerous.
Leone stepped onto the boat first, then he turned and held out a hand.
I stared at it, “Fuck you.”
His hand dropped, and he grabbed my arm instead. I stepped onto the deck. The boat shifted beneath my weight. I

caught myself against the railing.
Leone immediately grabbed my shoulder, “Careful.”
“I don’t need your help.”
“You do when your hands are tied.”
“I’d rather drown.”
“You’re becoming repetitive.”
“You’re becoming fucking annoying.”
He dragged me toward the covered cabin. I turned my head. Dad was still on the dock. He hadn’t boarded yet.
“You’re coming too?”
“Yes.”
I nodded, “You really want to watch this?” I turned toward him fully, “You take me to that island, you put me in the same room as Vance, and that’s going to be his funeral.”
