Chapter 18
Quennel and Victoria had done disgusting things in that house. Now, even the thought of stepping inside made her feel sick.
To her surprise, less than two hours after the listing went up, her phone rang.
It was an unknown number. When Stephanie answered, she heard Victoria’s voice. “Are you selling the mansion the Gonzalez family gave you?”
Stephanie frowned, about to hang up, but Victoria quickly continued.
“Don’t be so hostile. I spent a few nights there and quite liked the place. Are you really willing to sell it for half price? I’m very interested in buying it.”
Stephanie understood immediately. Victoria was calling just to spite her. She sneered, “What? Are you going to have Quennel buy it for you?”
Victoria didn’t deny it. “Who else?”
“You’re only fit to pick up my trash,” Stephanie said coldly. “You want it? Fine. Thirty million. Not a penny less.”
Victoria was shocked. “But the online listing is for eight million! Stephanie, are you insane? This mansion is worth ten million at most! Are you treating me like a sucker?”
“For a normal person, eight million is fair. But are you a person? A perfectly good house is about to be occupied by an animal. Naturally, I’ll need to compensate the neighbors for
their emotional distress.”
Victoria was furious. “What… What nonsense are you spouting! Who are you calling an
animal?”
Stephanie couldn’t be bothered to listen to another word and ended the call.
She checked into a luxury hotel and bought a few changes of clothes at a nearby mall.
She had taken two weeks of marriage leave from work, and there were still three days left. Bored of sitting in the hotel, Stephanie decided to end her leave early and go back to work the next morning.
This whole marriage leave was a complete joke, anyway.
Since she hadn’t slept well the night before, she napped until the afternoon.
She woke up to a call from Ternence. “Stephanie, what’s this about you selling the house?”
Stephanie paused for a moment before replying, “Mr. Gonzalez, I told you the last time I was home. I don’t want to be with Quennel any more.”

Chapter 18
She had started calling him ‘Dad, so the formal ‘Mr. Gonzalez‘ caught Ternence off guard.
“You can’t just decide it’s over! We just got married! Stephanie, you need me this much, you can’t let me go, can you?” The voice on the other end was suddenly Quennel’s.
So, when Quennel couldn’t reach her, he’d used his family to plead his case, thinking she couldn’t say no out of respect for her elders.
But her mind was made up.
Ternence spoke again. “Stephanie, come home for dinner tonight. If there’s a misunderstanding with Quennel, you two should talk it out.”
