Next Man Better Plan novel Chapter 48

Chapter 48

After all, Victoria would soon be moving into the house she had decorated. Since they had disgusted her, it was only fair they compensate her with money.

Besides, Quennel had made a fortune at Meridian Consortium over the years. The money was just going back where it came from. A simple conservation of energy.

Stephanie clearly had no intention of staying. After her declaration, she turned to leave.

“Mr. Gonzalez, I’ll wait for you to get the funds together. Contact me then to sign the contract. Twenty-five billion, not a penny less. Otherwise, I’ll lose all respect for you.”

Her desperation to cut ties with him left a suffocating feeling in Quennel’s chest.

Her smile was pure sarcasm. The Stephanie who once had eyes only for him would never have acted this way. Quennel felt a deep sense of unease, a feeling that something had fundamentally changed.

The moment Stephanie left, the house fell silent.

She used to love this home so much, yet this time she had left without a moment’s hesitation.

Quennel slammed his fist against the wall, a storm of frustration churning inside him with nowhere to go.

A few minutes later, his phone rang.

It was Victoria, her voice soft and gentle. “Quennel, are you working late? I’ve been waiting downstairs at your office for almost two hours. Can I come up and see you?”

Quennel frowned. He now remembered the message Victoria had sent him that morning.

He’d seen it but had been in a meeting and then completely forgot about it.

Contrasting Stephanie’s coldness with Victoria’s attentiveness, Quennel’s mood improved slightly.

“I’m not at the office. Come over to the house.”

Victoria’s heart leaped with joy. “Okay, I’ll be right there.”

Victoria didn’t go over immediately. Instead, she rushed home to change into a different dress.

It was one Stephanie had given her two years ago, saying it would suit her well.

Victoria had tried it on once and loved how it looked, but she had been saving it for a special occasion.

Tonight was a very special occasion.

Chapter 48

Victoria took a taxi to the villa. On the way, the driver kept glancing at her in the rearview

mirror.

Victoria mimicked the posture of a wealthy heiress, sitting up straight in the back seat while touching up her makeup in a compact mirror, her eyes darting around subtly.

The driver’s glances fed her vanity, but she maintained a frosty, aloof expression, putting on airs as if she were a true socialite.

So what if she came from a poor background? She was already mingling with Veridian’s wealthiest heir.

She was slowly becoming one of them. She was confident that everything Stephanie once had, she, Victoria, would have too. It was only a matter of time.
