Next Man Better Plan novel Chapter 49

Chapter 49

Victoria arrived at the villa and knocked on the door.

Quennel, thinking it might be Stephanie returning, opened it.

But when he saw Victoria standing there, the light in his eyes dimmed.

Victoria looked a little different today, but Quennel only spared her a quick glance before looking away.

“What are you doing here?” he asked, confused.

Victoria froze, a flicker of hurt in her eyes. “You told me to come find you. Did you forget?”

He really had forgotten.

He’d had a few drinks earlier, and after Stephanie left, he’d finished the entire bottle. He’d then taken a groggy shower and was just about to go to bed.

Quennel was dressed in pajamas, his damp hair half-dried and still dripping, giving him a softer, less intimidating look than usual.

He then remembered Victoria had said she needed his help with something.

He turned and walked back inside. “Come in,” he said flatly.

A shy blush appeared on Victoria’s face as she hurried after him.

“Quennel, you’re the heir to Verdant Grove Capital. Are you involved in its daily operations?”

A flicker of surprise crossed Quennel’s eyes. “Why the sudden question?”

Victoria bit her lip. “It’s not a huge deal, but… my company has a project, and Verdant Grove Capital is the client. My company promised me a promotion if Verdant Grove Capital agrees to use my technology. But your father is the boss, and because of Stephanie, he’s always been biased against me… I called his secretary this afternoon to schedule a meeting, but she just blew me off…

Victoria’s eyes grew red. “The two companies were already interested in collaborating. If this deal falls through because of me, it would be a loss not just for my company, but for Verdant Grove Capital as well.”

Quennel thought for a few seconds. “If that’s the case, I can talk to my dad and ask him to set aside his bias and meet with you.”

Hearing this, Victoria didn’t feel particularly happy.

Even if she did get a meeting with Ternence, her chances of success weren’t high. She was competing against Stephanie, after all. If Stephanie so much as mentioned their

shared history, Ternence would surely choose her.

Victoria added, “Actually, I’m afraid that even if your father meets with me, he still won’t agree to the partnership… Because he dislikes me, he might view my project with prejudice.”

Quennel didn’t disagree. He leaned back on the sofa. “Do you have the project proposal?”

“Yes!” Victoria immediately pulled the proposal she had with her from her bag and placed

it in front of him.

Quennel opened it and glanced through. The proposal was detailed and clearly well-prepared. The technology Victoria was proposing was indeed the latest on the market, with excellent growth potential and a lot of buzz online.

Forging a deal on the newest tech would be a win-win.

“Alright, here’s what we’ll do. Tomorrow, take this proposal to my dad’s company and ask for Kent Lee. I’ll take care of the rest.”

Victoria was both shocked and overjoyed. “Really? I can really get a contract with Verdant Grove Capital?”
