Chapter 56
Fuming, Ternence pointed a finger at Quennel, glaring at him. “She even dared to call herself the future Mrs. Gonzalez! Did you not permit that? Would she have had the nerve. otherwise? Quennel, oh, Quennel, how could you have such poor taste?”
On that point, Quennel couldn’t argue, because he was the one who told Victoria to come to Verdant Grove Capital.
“I’m giving you one chance. Get rid of that woman, and we can still be father and son. Otherwise, don’t blame me for being merciless
Quennel replied, “I wasn’t the one who brought her here. How am I supposed to send her away?”
Victoria got into college in Veridian on her own and stayed here after graduation. He couldn’t just dictate where she lived and worked.
Hearing this, Ternence grew even more incensed. “Fine, fine! You’ve got it all figured out, haven’t you? Get out. I don’t want to see you again. And don’t bother coming back to the family home! Go live with that woman! And when you’re out there, don’t you dare tell anyone you’re my son!”
Quennel was completely bewildered. “Dad, who’s your real child, Stephanie or me? What on earth did she say to you?”
Ternence said nothing more, turning his back with a stony expression.
Quennel wasn’t about to beg for his father’s attention.
He was, however, surprised that Stephanie had actually run to Ternence to complain.
Running to his father to get him in trouble… How childish could she be?
Quennel felt a surge of annoyance. There was nothing between him and Victoria, but this whole drama was making it seem like there was.
Stephanie got back to Sapphire Group in the afternoon.
She had just returned to her desk and was about to turn on her computer when her director, Troy, walked over.
Beaming, Troy announced to everyone, “We just heard from Verdant Grove Capital. They’re preparing to sign with Sapphire Group today, which means our company is about to reach a new level.”
This great news sent the entire R&D department into a frenzy of excitement.
They had assumed that with a large corporation like Verdant Grove Capital, the approval

process would take at least a week or two. They never expected the contract to be signed today.
Just then, Serena asked, “Stephanie and Victoria both went to Verdant Grove Capital this morning. Mr. Cooper, which one of them sealed the deal?”
While it was a win for Sapphire Group no matter who closed the deal, for the R&D department, it made a world of difference.
Victoria had been brought in mid-stream with the latest technology, whereas Stephanie and several colleagues in the department had poured nearly three years into their own
tech.
Most people were hoping Verdant Grove Capital would sign on for Sapphire Group’s in-house technology, especially those who had been involved in its development. It would mean their past three years hadn’t been for nothing and that their work had finally gained market validation.
In contrast to everyone’s curiosity, Stephanie remained perfectly calm.
