Next Man Better Plan novel Chapter 61

Chapter 61

From the way they acted, anyone could see how deeply in love they were.

Someone asked curiously, “Victoria, your boyfriend is a CEO? Which company is he with?” Victoria sat up a little straighter. “Meridian Consortium.”

“Wow, that’s a major corporation! Mr. Gonzalez, you’re incredible! You must be so busy, yet you made time to join Victoria for a company dinner. We’re really lucky to have her, getting to meet someone so important!”

At this, Victoria blushed demurely. “Quennel has always been a wonderful, gentle person. He’s exceptional in every way. Becoming a CEO is just a reflection of his talent. I’m the lucky one to be with him.”

Stephanie couldn’t help but let out a small laugh. What a nerve.

She was actually using her father’s company to show off.

If her older brother were still alive, Quennel would be nothing.

The derisive little chuckle drew everyone’s attention to Stephanie.

Stephanie swirled the red wine in her glass before taking a calm sip. “Why is everyone looking at me?”

Serena demanded, “What are you laughing at?”

Stephanie looked perfectly innocent. “What’s wrong? Is there a rule against laughing in this fine establishment?”

Serena frowned. “You’re being passive-aggressive. You’re just jealous because your new husband can’t compare to Mr. Gonzalez, aren’t you?”

Stephanie scoffed. “My husband is far more outstanding than Quennel. What is there to be jealous of?”

“Alright then, tell us what your husband does. Why don’t you call him over? Let’s all get a look at him.”

Quennel knew Stephanie couldn’t possibly summon anyone, because he was sitting right there.

If she said anything reckless now, it would only embarrass Victoria.

Despite their history, seeing Stephanie targeted made Quennel instinctively protective. “That’s enough. There’s no point in comparing people.”

He shot Serena a cold glance.

Seeing this, Serena immediately backed down Of course, Mr. Gonzalez. You’re very gracious. Not just anyone can be compared to you.”

Just then, a man named Joseph spotted Stephanie from across the room. He walked over, patting the back of the chair next to her. “Stephanie.”

Stephanie turned and smiled when she saw him. “Joseph? What are you doing here?”

“I came for dinner. What’s this…” Joseph, ever the gentleman, smiled warmly at the group. “A company get-together?”

Stephanie nodded.

Victoria, sensing an opportunity for drama, chimed in with a glint of excitement in her eyes. “Stephanie, is this… your boyfriend?”

Serena pursed her lips. “She’s married. It wouldn’t be a boyfriend, it would be her husband.”

That one word-husband-sent a chill through the air around Quennel.

He slammed his glass down on the table with a harsh, grating sound.

A few days ago, Victoria had sent him a photo of Stephanie having dinner alone with a

man.

If he wasn’t mistaken, the man in the picture was the one standing before him now.
