Next Man Better Plan novel Chapter 63

Chapter 63

“Are you really with that other man?”

Quennel had pulled Stephanie into a dark alley outside the restaurant.

He stared at her, as if trying to see into her very soul.

Stephanie retorted, “And why not? If you can attend a company dinner as Victoria’s boyfriend, why can’t I?”

“You pretend you don’t care about me, but then you run and complain to my father. Stephanie, you’re crazy about me. Don’t think I don’t know you’re just doing this to get my attention. That man means nothing to you.”

“Quennel, you’re not just narcissistic, you have a persecution complex. Who do you think you are? Do you really think you’re worth all that effort?”

“Of course I am. You can’t live without me, can you?” Quennel stepped closer, pinning her against the wall. “You can’t live without me, just like Meridian Consortium can’t. Without me, both you and the company would fall apart.”

Stephanie’s gaze was distant. Perhaps the only way to wake Quennel from his delusion was to sell Meridian Consortium.

But she wouldn’t tell him that until it was done.

“Give me a break. The way you’re acting now, it seems like you’re the one who can’t live without me.” With a sudden shove, Stephanie pushed him away, grinding her high heel onto his leather shoe before turning to leave with a defiant flair.

“Stephanie.”

Seeing that childish spark in her, Quennel’s anger deflated like a popped balloon.

He let out a helpless, low chuckle and rubbed his brow.

She was just like when they were kids, always stomping on his shoes when she was mad. In middle school, she had drawn little turtles all over his favorite pair of white sneakers with colored markers.

“I’ve prepared the money you asked for. Consider it compensation for neglecting you lately. Buy whatever you like, and if it’s not enough, just ask for more. But I don’t feel right with you living alone. Move back in, okay?”

The past few days, rattling around in that massive villa by himself, Quennel had felt increasingly lonely.

He especially hated waking up in the middle of the night to find the enormous room, the

entire house, empty.

After all these years of living together, he had grown accustomed to having Stephanie under the same roof.

Stephanie, who had been about to leave, stopped in her tracks when he mentioned the

money.

“The two and a half billion. You have it all?”

Quennel nodded. It was almost his entire savings from recent years.

But if she wanted it, he would give it to her. He wasn’t the type to haggle over money.

Besides, he would never be stingy with the little rose he had raised himself.

Stephanie pulled out her phone. “So when are you planning to transfer it?”

“If you want it now, we can do it now.” Quennel took out his phone as well, but the amount was too large for a simple mobile transfer.

He called his assistant, Julie. “I need you to go to the bank right now and transfer the funds to Stephanie’s account.”

A few minutes later, Stephanie’s phone chimed with a notification: a successful transfer.

Julie called back. “Mr. Gonzalez, the transfer is complete.”
