**TITLE: When She Opened the Door to the Life She Was Afraid to Live by Nora Vale Kingsley 284**

**Chapter 284 Beat Up the Bad Therian**

“Theodore, you’re dead meat today!” Drake bellowed, his voice reverberating through the tense atmosphere.

Thero and Edward rushed to his side, their expressions a mix of concern and determination. As they witnessed Theodore stagger back to his feet, a fierce resolve ignited within them. They swiftly grabbed Drake’s arms, anchoring him in place.

“Mr. Smith, let us handle this. You’re still injured. You can’t take him on,” Thero urged, his voice steady but laced with urgency.

Drake’s mental faculties were already frayed, and the physical wounds he bore were far from healed. He knew all too well that another confrontation could very well cost him his life.

They had lived for centuries, after all, their lives rich with experiences and memories. Death no longer held the same terror for them as it might for the younger beings around them.

Theodore observed the scene with a malicious glee, a wicked grin spreading across his face as he wiped a trickle of blood from his lip.

He had been right all along. Drake was still in a precarious state. If he were at full strength, those two ancient Drakonid fools would never dare to obstruct his path.

“Hahaha!” Theodore’s laughter sliced through the air, sharp and taunting. “I knew it, Drake! You’re injured!”

His arrogance surged like a tidal wave, filling him with a sense of invincibility. “Every last one of you dies today!”

The thought of claiming the three domains filled him with a heady thrill.

“Who are you to think you can kill me?” Drake shot back, his gaze locking onto Theodore’s with a deadly chill. Yet, even in the heat of the moment, his hand instinctively rose to his hair, gently patting the spot where Remy was hidden.

“Daddy, are you scared to fight because you’re worried about me?” Remy’s tiny voice whispered in his ear, a mixture of innocence and bravery. “Don’t worry, Daddy! I can protect myself. Go get him! Beat up the bad therian who insulted Mommy!”

Drake’s heart swelled at her words, but he couldn’t help but question, “You’re sure you can keep yourself safe?”

Even in his weakened state, he felt a flicker of confidence that he could end Theodore right then and there. But the little fruit nestled in his hair was a constant reminder of the stakes. This was Emma’s cub. If he threw himself into a real fight with Remy perched on his head, Emma would be frantic with worry, and that was not a risk he was willing to take.

Emma rushed over, her eyes scanning the scene with a fierce protectiveness. They first landed on Remy, and when she confirmed the little one was still safely tucked away in Drake’s hair, she exhaled a quiet breath of relief.

Turning her focus to Drake, she spoke with urgency, “Just stall him for ten minutes. Lucien and Marcus are almost here.”

The clock was ticking, and Drake felt the weight of the moment pressing down on him.

Chapter 284 Beat Up the Bad Therian

Lucien had just sent her another message, confirming that he and Marcus would arrive in ten minutes.

Backing down was anathema to Drake’s very being, yet for Emma and the tiny weight nestled within his hair, he pressed his lips together, steeling himself, and gave a tight nod.

“Got it. Don’t worry. I’ll keep you and Remy safe,” he promised, determination igniting in his chest.

“I trust you,” Emma replied, her voice steady but tinged with concern.

She genuinely believed in him, but she also recognized the reality of his injuries. Evading a direct confrontation was undoubtedly the wiser choice.

Meanwhile, Theodore had seized the moment of hesitation to gulp down a healing potion, feeling the warmth of magic knitting his wounds together.

His patience wore thin as he watched Drake and the pretty little female whispering to each other, their bond palpable. In a flash of irritation, he raised his hand, ready to unleash a deadly strike at Drake.

Why is this demon king here?

As their eyes met, Theodore spun on his heel and fled for his life, the primal instinct to survive overpowering all else.

The massive white wolf watched him retreat, contempt etched on his features.

“Pathetic trash!”

He had truly believed that a Rank 11 therian might possess some worth.

Marcus shifted back into his human form, and with a single, effortless step, towering walls of ice erupted from the ground, encasing Theodore within their frigid grasp.

“Don’t kill me! Marcus, please don’t kill me!” Theodore pleaded, stumbling backward, his voice cracking with desperation as Marcus closed the distance between them.

“I’m Rank 11! I’ll serve you. I can do so much for you!”

Marcus tilted his head, studying him with an expression of languid boredom, as if Theodore’s pleas were nothing more than a bothersome fly buzzing in his ear.

“I don’t keep pets that make me want to vomit. So… do us all a favor and go to hell.”

The moment the words left his lips, the ice walls erupted into a storm of razor-sharp icicles, piercing Theodore from every direction.

If a therian like him lived to fight the Chitinids, he would undoubtedly turn on his allies the moment it suited him. Eliminating him was the safest course of action for everyone involved.

Marcus looked down at Theodore’s body, now impaled by countless ice spikes, and summoned a ball of blue flame in his palm.

Within moments, the fire engulfed Theodore entirely, reducing him to ash. As the ice melted, water washed away the remnants, erasing every last trace of his existence from the world.
