Chapter 309 Waiting Through The Night
Chapter 309 Waiting Through The Night
Emma reached out to pat Remy, then turned and shot Marcus a sharp glare.
Marcus lowered his head, suddenly guilty and silent.
It was getting late.

Emma glanced at her lightcore and said to Lucien, “If none of you are busy, why don’t we go catch some sea beasts now?”
They didn’t often come to the Aquadome, and the sea beasts here were abundant. They had to make the most of it.
“We’ll take the warship,” Corvin said immediately.
Edric added, “Kieran should be back soon. He’s got space prepared for capturing and housing sea beasts.”
These creatures had to be brought back alive. Dead ones didn’t taste nearly as good.
Lucien nodded. “I’ll make the arrangements. We can head a bit farther out.”

They could spend the night on the warship, then return at dawn to pick up Drake.
Before long, Kieran returned.
Emma and the others boarded the warship at once and set off to capture sea beasts.
They hadn’t been in the air long before Emma’s lightcore chimed.
It was a message from Aria, asking whether Emma was done with work and if she could return before the Celestara Gala.
Emma immediately replied, assuring her that she’d make it back in time.
After sending the message, her eyes drifted to her chat with Malrik.
Ever since he’d said he was going to find her some medicine, he hadn’t returned.
She’d sent him several messages, but he never replied. Even video calls wouldn’t connect.
Edric’s Interstellar Hunter Alliance hadn’t found any trace of him either.

Where had he gone looking for that medicine?

She could only hope that by the time she reached the Central Planet, Malrik would be back as well.
The Aquadome teemed with sea beasts, almost absurdly so. The high–tier ones, especially, had meat so tender it was almost decadent.
Emma had Lucien and Marcus capture plenty, storing them in the special containment pods Kieran had prepared. Inside, the sea beasts could survive for up to three months.
The next morning, Emma and the others returned to the Thalassian Palace, only to see Drake already waiting at the gates.
When he saw Emma, he rushed over. “Emma, you’re finally back.”
His hair was still wet, his clothes wrinkled. He had clearly been waiting outside all night.
“Did you really stay out here the whole time?” Emma frowned at the sight of him.
She’d told Thero they were going to catch sea beasts and would be back to fetch Drake first thing in the morning.
“I wanted to wait for you,” Drake said softly, gripping her hand, caution filled his onyx eyes. “I wanted you to see me the moment you came back.”
Thero, having heard the news that Emma had returned, hurried over.
“Ms. Emma Tibarn, thank goodness you’re back.”
Seeing her was like spotting salvation.
“Mr. Smith woke up, found out you’d gone to catch sea beasts without him, and waited here for you all night.”
The poor old man stayed with him until midnight.
When exhaustion finally won, he’d asked the guards to keep watch and gone home to rest.
Emma slipped her hand from Drake’s and said firmly, “Don’t ever do that again. If you pull something like this one more time, I won’t take you with me.”
Drake panicked at once. “Don’t leave me behind, Emma. I was wrong. I’ll listen to you. I won’t do it again.”

Emma nodded, then turned to Thero. “Mr. Thero, is everything ready for Drake? We’re heading out now.”
“All set,” Thero replied quickly.
He shot Drake a worried look. “Mr. Smith, please remember what I told you. Don’t upset Ms. Tibarn.”
He truly wanted to accompany them to the Central Planet, but for now, he couldn’t leave the Aquadome. This time, aside from a few guards, only the Third Elder, Edward Smith, would go with Drake. And Edward wasn’t much of a talker.
Sigh…
After Thero finished his reminders, Emma said her farewells and led Drake aboard the warship.
They would first travel to the Starrail Hub, then transfer to the starrail.
Edward and the others followed behind in a Drakonid warship.
Once aboard, Emma brought Drake to the rest chamber to give him mental comfort.
His mental consciousness was calm this time.
The new membrane that had formed hadn’t dissolved again. In fact, it had thickened slightly.
By the time Emma finished, the warship had already reached the Starrail Hub.
It took five days to travel from the Aquadome to the Central Planet by starrail.
Once they boarded, Lucien opened his lightcore and sent a message in the
group chat.
‘We’ve got five days. Each of us can keep Emma company for one day. Should we draw lots for the order, or should I assign it?‘
‘No drawing lots for me,‘ Corvin replied.
Last time, he’d drawn third twice in a row. He was still traumatized.
Silas merely responded, ‘I’m fine with anything.‘
He couldn’t do much anyway.
‘I’ll go with whatever you decide, Edric answered.
