Emma noticed Aria biting her lip in silence, eyes uneasy, and asked curiously, “What’s wrong? You’re Lucien’s sister. You should be happy we bonded. Why do you look like you’re about to cry?”
“No… I’m fine, Emma.”
Aria shook her head quickly, forcing a smile as she tugged Emma toward the house.
“Emma, you just bonded with my brother last night. You must be exhausted. Let’s skip the cake lesson today. You should rest properly.”
“I’m fine. Not tired at all.” There was no way Emma was admitting to being sore.
Across the interstellar, there were females who could bond with two, even three males in one night.
If anyone found out that she had nearly passed out bonding with just one mate, she’d never live it down. She’d rather die than confess to being tired.
“You’re really not tired?” The more Aria watched Emma, who was bright–eyed, brisk, and full of energy, the more certain she became that her brother was the one who wasn’t up to it.
Oh no.
Will Emma think less of my brother for that?
It’s fine if she does.
But will she even start to dislike me, too?
The more Aria thought about it, the more panicked she became.
During the baking lesson, Emma could tell Aria was completely distracted. She has no idea what was on Aria’s mind, but Aria was staring blankly, looking weighted down by something.
After Aria botched the proportions again, Emma finally asked gently, “Aria, what’s wrong? If something’s bothering you, you can tell me. Maybe I can help.”
“No!” Aria shook her head frantically, like a drumbeat. “Emma, I’m fine. Really.”
There were others in the room, her mate, and Emma’s, too.

No way she could admit, in front of them all, that her brother might be… underperforming. That was a male’s pride on the line.
If Lucien ever hears me say something like that, he’ll kill me.
No. I have to help him.
He is my brother. I can’t just stand by.
With that in mind, Aria said to Emma, “Uh, Emma, I just remembered something. There’s an issue back with Aurelia that I need to handle. I’ll come find you tonight, okay?”
A memory had struck her. Aurelia had a certain medicine. Something that could help males.
Emma nodded. “Alright. Go handle your business first.”
Cake–making isn’t exactly urgent anyway.
“If you need help, just say so.”
Emma already thought of Aria as her own younger sister.
“Got it, Emma.”
Aria quickly gathered her mates and left for Aurelia.
With her gone, Emma returned to her room.
Marcus tried to follow, but she stopped him at the door.
“I just want a proper sleep for once. Don’t disturb me.”
Ever since bonding, she hadn’t slept alone even once.
Marcus watched her climb the stairs to the third floor.
Then he turned to Silas, who was lounging on the couch. “Why won’t Ms. Tibarn let us stay with her?”
Before Silas could respond, Corvin came back from tidying up the dining room and leaned close to Marcus, voice low.
“Emma might be upset. Let’s all keep quiet today. Don’t bother her.”
“Upset?” Marcus frowned. “Why?”

Edric and Silas both looked over at Corvin, waiting for an explanation.

Corvin lowered his voice and told them, “When I saw Ms. Aria Veynar and her mates off earlier, I overheard her talking to an Aurelia elder on lightcall. She was asking for Aurelian medicine, the kind that strengthens a male’s… performance.”
Marcus blinked, confused. “And what does that have to do with Ms. Tibarn being upset?”
He’d only just gotten up and had run into Emma on her way to rest. He had no clue how this connected.
Corvin’s next words were nearly a whisper.
“That medicine… it was for His Highness.”
“What?”
Edric’s eyes
widened. “You mean Lucien isn’t… capable?”
No way.
He’d always thought, aside from Marcus, Lucien was the most capable among them.
And now Corvin was saying he wasn’t.
Realizing what he’d just implied, Corvin immediately clapped a hand over his mouth.
“I didn’t say anything.”
Marcus cast a glance upstairs, then murmured, “Where’s Lucien, anyway? I haven’t seen him.”
He’d just bonded with Ms. Tibarn last night. Shouldn’t he be by her side right now?
Edric and Corvin both turned toward Silas, who was sitting rigid on the couch.
They’d been busy greeting Aria’s mate earlier; only Marcus and Silas were here in the house.
Marcus had slept late, but Silas definitely knew more than he was letting on.
Silas‘ eyelids twitched. “Why are you all staring at me? I don’t know anything.”
Marcus arched a brow. “Come on. We’ve known each other long enough. You think we can’t tell when you’re hiding something?”
He dropped onto the seat beside Silas, fixing him with a steady gaze.
