Chapter 336 Signal From the Great Rift

Silas‘ voice carried a pitiful whine. “But I have to take care of Remy now. I can’t do anything but look. If I don’t wrap myself up like this, I’m afraid I won’t be able to hold back!”

As he spoke, he deliberately rubbed against Emma, his warm breath brushing the side of her neck. His tone dropped, sultry and plaintive. “Emy, I feel so miserable. Will you hold me, just

for a bit?”

Hearing that, Emma quickly pulled him into her arms. “Don’t be sad. I’ll make it up to you when Remy’s older, I promise.”

Silas nodded. He held her for a while before reluctantly letting go. He genuinely feared that he would throw himself at her if he held her any longer.

Once Silas released her, Emma looked at the small figure still asleep on his shoulder. “Remy… hasn’t woken up yet?”

Silas shook his head. “Not yet. But I can feel his life force–it’s strong. The energy from the Ebonheart fruit probably hasn’t finished settling. We just need to wait a bit longer.”

Emma nodded in understanding.

The two of them lay side by side, keeping perfectly still. Emma turned her head to look at Silas, who had bundled himself tightly in the blanket, watching her too.

It was the first time they had lain together without a hint of teasing or desire—just quiet companionship. Emma thought it actually felt… kind of warm.

The next morning, Emma woke feeling refreshed, her exhaustion completely gone.

After washing up, she had barely taken a few steps downstairs when her lightcore suddenly chimed sharply. The projection flickered on—it was a video message from Malrik.

On–screen, Malrik’s face was deathly pale. The background behind him was a dim, jagged cave. His clothes were torn, blood trailed from the corner of his mouth, and his voice was so faint it seemed he might vanish at any second.

“Ms. Tibarn…” Malrik’s tone was weak and trembling. “I… I went to find the Beast God’s fruit to cure you, but I couldn’t find it. Instead, I got badly hurt… Ms. Tibarn, I’m sorry. I’ve failed you.”

She couldn’t tell how badly Malrik was injured, but just from his labored breathing, she could sense how close he was to collapse–as if death was waiting right around the corner.

She immediately tried calling him back, but the video didn’t connect.

Has he fallen unconscious from his injuries? she wondered. Is that why he can’t answer?

Emma replayed the message again. Malrik’s voice was growing weaker near the end. “Ms. Tibarn, I think I’m dying. I just… I just wish I could see you one last time before I go, I…”

Before he could finish, the image cut to black. Nothing but darkness.

Emma stood frozen, staring at the dead screen, her heart twisting painfully. If she hadn’t deceived him with that act, Malrik would never have gone to Beast God Mountain in the first place. She’d be cruel to ignore it.

And so, she rushed off to find Corvin.

Malrik hadn’t said where he was, but Corvin might be able to track him through his lightcore signal.

“Corvin, come out!” she shouted as she approached his room.

Hearing the panic in her voice, Corvin hurried out. “Emma, what’s wrong?”

Emma opened her lightcore and played Malrik’s video for him. “Something’s happened to Malrik. He didn’t say where he is—can you trace his signal and find him?”

Corvin’s face drained of color at the sight of the bloodied man on the screen. He sprinted back to his workstation, connected his terminal to Emma’s device, and began scanning for Malrik’s coordinates.

The commotion drew Marcus and Silas, who was making breakfast at the time.

“What happened, Emy?” Silas asked.

Emma quickly filled them in. Both Silas and Marcus frowned deeply at the sight of Malrik, barely clinging to life in the recording.

“I didn’t think he’d actually go to Beast God Mountain,” Marcus muttered darkly.

Silas exhaled, his voice steady but grim. “He’s seriously hurt. The first thing we need to do is locate him.”

Emma felt a wave of guilt crash over her. If she hadn’t tricked Malrik with that act, he never would’ve gone into danger for her sake.

Corvin’s fingers flew across the screen. A minute later, he looked up with relief. “Got him,

Emma.”

She leaned closer. Corvin pointed to a glowing red dot on the display. “Malrik’s somewhere in the Great Rift Range on Central Planet. This is just an approximate signal. We’ll have to go there ourselves to pinpoint his exact location.”
