**Chapter 466: Before They Arrived**

As Emma stood by the flickering bonfire, she couldn’t help but feel a twinge of disappointment at the food laid out for the party. It wasn’t quite what she had envisioned for such an occasion. The atmosphere was lively, but the culinary offerings left much to be desired.

“We still need to prepare our own food,” she remarked, her tone light yet hinting at the unfulfilled expectations.

“I’ll help you with that,” Emma offered, her voice ringing with determination as she approached Lucien, intertwining her fingers with his. “Lucien, are you truly okay? You’ve been zoning out more than usual these past couple of days.”

She had first noticed his distracted demeanor the previous day, but it seemed to have intensified. The way he would drift off mid-conversation worried her.

“Emma, I’m perfectly fine,” Lucien reassured her, a smile gracing his lips as he gently shook his head, pulling her closer into his embrace. “I’ve just been thinking about Silas and Marcus. They’ll be here in just two days. The thought of having to part from you soon makes me feel a bit sad.”

“Parting? How do you envision that?” Emma laughed, her heart lightening at his words. She leaned in, placing a soft kiss on his cheek, feeling the warmth radiate from him.

“Before Silas arrives, why not run away with me? Your speed is incredible now. With just one leap, we could be in the outer regions, far away from here. Silas would never be able to track us down!”

In the past few days, Emma had come to appreciate the extent of his newfound abilities. After Lucien’s transformation into a Pyreborn, he had acquired a power that seemed almost like teleportation. It fascinated her how he could vanish from one place and appear in another in the blink of an eye. If he truly wished to escape, no one would stand a chance of finding him.

Lucien chuckled softly, shaking his head once more. “I genuinely want to whisk you away so that they can never find you. But deep down, I know that wouldn’t bring you happiness.”

He felt a pang of regret at the thought of leaving her, even for a short time. Just being able to steal a few days alone with her brought him immense joy, yet he sensed that his episodes were drawing nearer.

The past couple of days had brought with them a nagging ache in his head, as if he were on the verge of forgetting something crucial. It was a fear that gnawed at him, growing more intense with each passing moment.

Suddenly, a notification chimed from Emma’s lightcore, breaking the moment.

Lucien smiled tenderly and pressed a gentle kiss to her forehead. “It must be your new friend reaching out. You should go ahead and reply. I’ll take care of the preparations for tonight.”

With that, he turned and headed toward the kitchen, leaving Emma to ponder his words.

As she watched him walk away, a sense of unease settled over her. She knew he hadn’t been entirely honest with her just now. Even without his words, she could sense the truth beneath the surface.

The plumage mark between his brows had shifted, a clear sign that he was inching closer to recalling his Pyreborn memories. Once that mark turned completely red, he would regain everything he had lost. She held onto hope that he would return to his former self by then.

Emma opened her lightcore, expecting a message from her new friend. Instead, she found a message from Calum, which read: “Ms. Tibarn, Marcus and I have arrived in Z-1689. Can we come over now?”

Thinking for a moment, she quickly replied, “Thanks to you and Marcus for your hard work! You should find a place to stay for now and come over in two days!”

With the way things were progressing, she felt confident that in two more days, the plumage mark would fully turn red, marking a significant change in Lucien.
