Divorce and Freedom: No More Homemaker for Him
Chapter 587 Too Late

Ayla lowered her eyes and told Draven everything Troy had said. “He said he wanted to become a thorn between us.”
Draven looked at her and said firmly, “That won’t happen.”
Ayla thought the same.
Who she loved and who she chose to be with was her own free will. How could anyone possibly change that so easily?
Because of Troy, Ayla temporarily put aside any talk about the future. Their relationship had not lasted very long. Even though they got along like an old married couple, they were still very much in the honeymoon phase. With Troy’s provocation added to the mix, they became even more focused on each other without saying it out loud. At that moment, all they wanted was to stay together.
As for the future, maybe a few months later, Ayla’s thoughts would change again.
Once spring break ended, time quickly moved into June.
Casey and Brianna’s historical drama wrapped up and they moved on to new projects. Shirley also finished filming an artsy youth film. The biggest project at Ayla and Halle’s company, LugiM, reached the end of its development phase and entered final security testing. Once all data security checks passed, it could be released to the market.
Ayla was extremely busy. Troy was not the center of her life. What happened during spring break, the stalking, and that phone call had long been pushed to the back of her mind as time rushed forward.
Then one day in June, Troy really did come to see her.
Several months had passed since they last saw each other. When Ayla saw Troy again, the feelings she once had were almost gone. Still, Troy had occupied an important period in her life, so he could never be treated like an ordinary acquaintance.
Troy’s appearance had not changed much. He looked the same as before, but his attitude had shifted noticeably. That change might have come from months apart, or from realizing his feelings for her. Either way, he no longer showed his arrogance so openly or took things for granted.
The way he treated her felt more like how he treated a work partner, with basic courtesy and restraint.
Because of that, Ayla did not feel intense disgust.
Troy had blocked her path, leaving her nowhere to avoid him. She said, “I’m busy. I can give you ten
minutes.”
After ten minutes, Draven would definitely know Troy had come to see her.
Ayla was not worried.
It had probably been too long since Troy last saw her. He barely blinked, his gaze heavy on her, and he even smiled. “Ten minutes is enough.”

What Ayla did not expect was that after just a few minutes of conversation, she would truly come to hate Troy. If everything could start over, she would rather have never appeared in his world at all.
“Do you remember what happened last June?” Troy asked.
The moment she heard his first sentence, Ayla had a terrible feeling.
Of course she remembered what had happened last June. She had been pregnant.
Why is Troy suddenly bringing this up? Is he trying to reminisce?
Ayla instinctively clenched her hand.
Seeing the change in her expression, Troy said, “So you really did care about our child.”
Ayla’s face darkened. Now, she felt numb toward the idea of a child, but back then she had been full of expectation. It had been her first pregnancy. That alone made it different. That child had not survived. It became a deep wound in her heart and her biggest emotional landmine. And yet Troy had come to her just to talk about it.
For the first time, Ayla’s eyes were no longer calm and empty. There was emotion that could be clearly seen. “Troy, are you sure you want to talk about this with me?”
Pain flashed through Troy’s eyes. “I’m sorry. Back then, I…”
Ayla cut him off, “Even if it were you now, the outcome would be the same. You never looked forward to that child. So why bring it up now? Do you think this is supposed to move me, or anger me?”
She leaned back in her chair and looked straight at him, serious and steady. “We haven’t seen each other. for months. I don’t want to argue with you during these ten minutes. Don’t talk about the child. There’s nothing to talk about. If we really go there, all it will do is force me to relive just how awful of a person you
were.”
After hearing that, Troy suddenly laughed. It was a self–mocking, painful laugh, with a hint of madness. ‘Other couples argue as a kind of intimacy. When we argue, we stab each other. Ayla, I know I was wrong back then. I keep thinking, if something hadn’t happened to our child, would the ending have been different?”
Ayla froze. She had never allowed herself to think about that. “That kind of hypothetical is meaningless.”
What if I insist that you think about it?” Troy asked.
Ayla said calmly, “I made up my mind to divorce you because of how cold you were when I miscarried. What were you doing that day? I don’t need to spell it out for you. When I still loved you, the child was gone. If you had loved me and treated me well, I might have still believed in our future.”
She continued, her voice steady, “But I didn’t just lose the child. You never changed either. Even now, you till act on your own will alone. I can’t see any hope at all. In a few more months, it will be a year since our livorce. No matter how much you change, there’s no place for you in my heart anymore. And other than
raven, there’s room for no one else.”
