Emma reminded Alaric, “You don’t need a Level 14 beast core, but for a high–level therian like Andre, a Level 11 or 12 beast core should be easy enough to obtain, right?”
Hearing this, Alaric couldn’t help but chuckle softly. “Got it. I’ll make sure it’s done.”
He hadn’t realized before that his little female was a bit of a treasure hunter.
Persuading someone was Alaric’s specialty. Instead of going straight to Andre, Alaric first sought out Gaellard.
n the forest, Gaellard sat at a stone table he had just set up, reaching for a piece of fried chicken to taste it, when Alaric appeared.
Alaric walked over, clicking his tongue at the chicken in Gaellard’s hand. Gaellard froze, protectively lifting the food and glaring at
Alaric.
‘What do you want? I already gave you the beast cores. Money and goods are settled, so you can’t take these back.”
He assumed Alaric had come to snatch his food.
Leaning against a tree, Alaric regarded Gaellard with three parts amusement, seven parts pity, and even let out a small sigh.
‘Don’t worry, I’m not here to take your food.”
Gustgluttons were great in every way–except when food was around, they lost all sense. All their attention went to the food.
Otherwise, Gaellard, as sly as he was, wouldn’t have spent two Level 14 beast cores on a single box of food.
‘Then why are you here?” Gaellard asked.
Alaric smiled. “I came to check on you. After all, we worked together at Beast God Mountain–we have some history.”
His gaze drifted to the food box in front of Gaellard.
‘Gaellard, two Level 14 beast cores… That’s enough energy to shake a whole galaxy. And you spent it on one box of food? Eat it, digest it, and tomorrow nothing remains—not even crumbs. Doesn’t that hurt?”
Gaellard stared at Alaric, momentarily at a loss for words.
“Are you saying I overpaid for this food?”
Alaric shook his head. “I didn’t say that.”
Gaellard was speechless.
If Alaric had stayed silent, things would’ve been fine. But now that he’d spoken, Gaellard suddenly found the food in the box smelled a little less appetizing.
He shot Alaric a glare. “What exactly are you trying to do? Make me regret this, so I’ll voluntarily return the food?”
Return it? That was impossible.
Alaric stepped closer, reaching out to pat Gaellard on the shoulder. “Forget about returning it. Jim and Kieran won’t allow it.”

Seeing the mix of frustration and regret on Gaellard’s face, Alaric changed his tone. He leaned down slightly and lowered his voice. “But I can make you feel a little better.”
Gaellard looked at him suspiciously. “How so?”
“It’s simple,” Alaric said. “If someone else–just like you–spent a fortune on a box of food, wouldn’t you feel better knowing you’re not the only one?”
Gaeliard’s eyes narrowed, his gaze sharp and dangerous.
“Ah, I see. You want me to team up with you to trick someone else?”
“Better to enjoy it together than alone; better to lose together than alone,” Alaric said, smiling innocently. “Andre probably has more beast cores than you…”
Gaellard immediately slammed the lid shut on the food box.
He looked at Alaric and spoke in a low voice. “I know you’re trying to trick Andre into giving up his beast cores. I can cooperate with you. But even though Andre’s cold and doesn’t talk much, he’s not so easy to fool. He’s not as greedy as I am, so he’s harder to trick,”
Alaric, of course, knew Andre wasn’t easy to fool. That was why he hadn’t planned on trying to deceive him.
Instead, Alaric leaned closer to Gaellard and whispered in his ear, “You don’t need to trick Andre–just provoke him.”
Andre was naturally competitive. Stir up his pride and ego, and he’d fall right into place in no time.
Alaric whispered a few more words, and Gaellard’s eyes narrowed.
After listening, he swore under his breath. “That’s such a

Though Gaellard was cunning, he still had limits when it came to his own allies. Alaric, however, had none at all.
“Just tell me–are you in or not?” Alaric asked.
