She looked at him. Then her eyes widened in disbelief. “So you’re telling me you couldn’t pick a room because of that, and you’d rather lie here with Marcus than just choose one for yourself?”

He said nothing. That pretty much answered it.

She let out a breath, clearly done. “If you can’t decide on your own, why didn’t you just ask someone to help?”

As Emma spoke, she pointed at Marcus beside him. “You could’ve at least asked Marcus. He’s been lying here all afternoon, right next to you. All you had to do was ask which room was available. Is that really that hard?”

Marcus might have a sharp tongue, but for something this simple, he would have helped without a second thought.

Hearing that, Jim’s lashes trembled slightly. He turned his head and glanced at Marcus, who couldn’t even be bothered to open his eyes. Then he quietly looked away again.

He doesn’t seem to like me much. If I ask him to pick a room for me, he’ll probably just point to one at random.

He had originally planned to wait for Corvin to come downstairs and ask him for help. He had met basically all the males in the house, and he figured Corvin was the only one who seemed genuinely sincere.

When Jim didn’t respond, Emma reached out and yanked him up. “Alright, that’s enough. Stop lying here doing nothing. Get up.” She really couldn’t watch this anymore.

Jim didn’t resist. He went along with it and let her pull him to his feet.

“If you can’t choose, then don’t.” She grabbed his sleeve and dragged him toward the stairs. “Come on. I’ll pick one for you.”

Even if Jim and Marcus share the same weird habit of lying around here all day, he still needs his own room. Otherwise, how’s he supposed to shower or change? He can’t just do all that out in the living room.

Edric watched as Emma dragged Jim upstairs and shook his head, a little helplessly. Then he turned to Marcus, who was still sprawled on the couch. “I’m going to start dinner. You wanna come help?”

Emma led Jim straight up to the fifth floor. “This room is empty. You can take this one. There are only two rooms on this floor. Marcus is in the other one.”
