Emma rose slightly onto her toes, her warm breath brushing straight against his tightly pressed lips. “Don’t hold back.”

The words had barely left her mouth before she tilted her head up and kissed Edric first.

In an instant, the serpent’s tail coiled around her waist and tightened hard. “Mm…”

The next second, the world flipped. He had already pushed her down onto the soft bed. The cold tail slid up from her ankle, winding higher and higher until it wrapped around her completely, leaving no space to escape.

“Emma!” Their lips tangled as he murmured against her, his voice rough and hoarse, thick with desire.

He stared at it, clearly shaken.

“It’s from the first time we met. I carved that moment.” Her voice carried a hint of regret. “I could only get the general feel right. There’s no way I could recreate it perfectly.”

“It’s already more than enough.” His eyes reddened slightly. “Emma, thank you. I really like this.”

Turns out, she still remembers that day. That means more to me than the gift itself.

“I’m glad you like it.” Emma wrapped her arms around Edric. “This piece of wood was only enough for this. When I find something better later, I’ll make you something else.”

He carefully put the carving away, then pulled her back into his arms. “Something this detailed must have taken you a long time. One is enough. I don’t want you wearing yourself out.”

“Okay.” He nodded, then headed into her walk–in closet and picked out a set of loungewear for her. “These just got delivered while you were away. I had them washed already. Try them on and see if you like how they look.”

They had always prepared all of Emma’s clothes. They were worried she might get bored with the same wardrobe, so every month, they would replace everything with a fresh selection. And they always made sure to pick the best for her.

“They look good.” She glanced at the outfit in his hands. She hadn’t even tried it on yet, but she already knew it would look great on her.

The clothes they pick are never bad. Obviously, Silas is the exception. Anything he picks, I can’t even wear

out.

Downstairs in the living room, the moment Emma and Edric stepped out of the floating elevator, they saw two people sprawled across the couch, one on each side.

Marcus lying here doesn’t even surprise me anymore. But why is Jim here, too? He’s just being lazy. Don’t tell me he doesn’t even have the energy to walk back to his room.

mma looked at them, both lying flat with their hands folded over their stomachs, eyes closed, breathing steadily. They were practically mirroring each other.
