“That’s just an illusion.”

After saying that, Lucien let out a tired sigh. He pulled Emma’s arm closer into his embrace, as if holding her was the only way he could get a bit of energy to keep going.
“Malrik made a rabbit appear on his hand all night. I held the older one the whole time. Now, everyone I look at seems like a rabbit.”
He let out a quiet scoff in his mind.
Thinking about how Malrik had looked completely lifeless last night, Lucien’s heavy eyelids twitched. It seemed like he wanted to laugh, but he didn’t have the strength. In the end, it just turned into another helpless sigh.
“Emma, thank god they’re our own cubs.” Lucien buried his face into Emma’s neck and spoke in a muffled voice. “If they weren’t, I would’ve thrown them out last night.”
Emma listened to his pitiful yet funny complaint.
Her heart softened right away.
She reached out and gently ran her fingers through his slightly messy hair, her voice soft as she comforted him.
“Alright, alright. You worked hard. Let Silas take over tonight. You get some good sleep.”
When Lucien heard that, he rubbed against her neck, his voice already slurring.
“Silas… huh…”
After saying that, he finally hit his limit. Even though his arms still held onto Emma, his breathing quickly turned steady and deep. He fell asleep almost instantly while holding her.
Emma smiled helplessly.
She didn’t dare move too much, so she just let him hold her.
She looked at the two cubs beside them. They looked delicate and adorable, sleeping soundly like little angels. Then, she looked at Lucien, who was completely knocked out from exhaustion. She couldn’t help but feel curious.
Just how badly did they cry last night to tire them out this much?
Maybe I should stay here tonight and try it myself.
Just as she was thinking that, she heard very light footsteps at the door.
Emma lifted her head slightly and saw Silas walking in with a tray.
When Silas saw Lucien holding Emma so possessively, he raised an eyebrow. He moved quietly, set the tray on the table, then walked over without making a sound.
He glanced at Lucien, who was completely out. A faint, amused smile appeared on his lips. Then, he used a vine to gently separate
him from Emma.

The vine carefully moved Lucien onto the bed.
“Emy, eat your breakfast first.”
Emma nodded. She ended up having breakfast right there in Lucien’s room.
Lucien was just too tired.
Silas sat beside her. He watched her eat while also keeping an eye on the two cubs.
He opened his lightcore.
His long fingers tapped lightly on the virtual screen. He found Corvin’s contact on WhatsApp. “Corvin, how’s the order going?”
The message had just been sent when Corvin replied almost instantly.
“I’m working really hard on it. You guys ordered too much. It might take another twenty days to finish.”
Corvin really wanted to go home, but there were too many orders, so he couldn’t leave.
Another twenty days?
Silas raised an eyebrow. His gaze swept over the two harmless–looking cubs on the bed. Then he glanced at Lucien, who looked like all his energy had been drained.
A thought flashed in his eyes. His fingers moved quickly across the screen.
“If it’s that tiring, then stop for now. The order isn’t urgent. I’ll find a way to delay it.”
Right after that, he sent another message.
“Do you want to come back?”
On the other side, Corvin rubbed his eyes hard. He made sure he wasn’t seeing things. Silas actually said the order isn’t urgent? And he asked if I wanted to come home?
He was so touched he almost cried, I knew it. Out of everyone in the house, Silas is the best.
He replied, “Yes! Of course I do! Silas, I really want to come home.”
When he saw Corvin’s reply, Silas‘ lips curled up in satisfaction.
“If you want to, then come back today. But things are a bit busy at home right now. Lucien’s Phoenix cub has hatched. We might need your help taking care of it.”
Silas replied quickly.
Corvin saw the message and noticed nothing wrong at all. Instead, a
warm feeling rushed through him.
Aside from Emma, who would message him sometimes to chat, everyone else had been so busy taking care of the cubs that they had completely forgotten about him.
