Chapter 939 Plan
Corvin texted, “Two birds with one stone, I’m suddenly loving this idea way more than I should.”
Malrik tagged Corvin. “That’s exactly why you’re the best.”
Jim texted, “Having no fur’s not a problem.” He tagged Drake. “Happy to send you some for a price.”
Calum added, “Black scales alone look pretty rough though, I can throw in some tiger fur for a fee too, Drake.”
Lucien tagged Drake. “Same offer here, for a price!”
Kieran texted, “Leaving the chat for an hour, do not disturb, thanks!”

Drake’s expression had already been dark, but the moment his device buzzed nonstop with new messages, he pulled it up to
check.
The instant he read the group chat, his already stormy expression darkened even further.
He glared at the phrase “willing to sell fur for a fee” glowing on his screen, his teeth grinding hard enough to creak.
So what if they had fur. Big deal.
Drake tagged Corvin. “Where are you right now?”
“I just remembered something I need to talk to
you
Drake also tagged Jim, Calum, and Lucien. “Are you three that desperate for money?”
Drake tagged Jim. “Black fur? Go knit yourself a pair of pants with it.”
Drake tagged Calum. “Honestly, I wouldn’t mind skinning a tiger rug and giving it to Emma to step on for fun.”
Drake tagged Lucien. “Your feathers are way too flashy. I’m worried they’d hurt Emma’s eyes.”
The group chat fell silent for exactly three seconds.
But right at the three second mark, Lucien fired back with a message dripping in quiet mockery.
Lucien tagged Drake. “Changing the subject doesn’t erase the fact that you’re currently not the one being held right now.” He sent a sipping tea meme.
Calum added, “Exactly. No point acting tough when Marcus is literally kneading dough in Emma’s lap as we speak.”
Jim answered, “Not desperate for cash, just not giving it away free.”
Corvin tagged Drake. “What did you need to talk to me about?”
Drake snapped his device shut with a sharp crack, his handsome, commanding face darkening to a shade that looked ready to bleed pure ink.
Not far away, Marcus stayed curled up in Emma’s arms, his little paws still perfectly timed against the toy wand, his fluffy tail now wrapped snugly around her wrist, letting out the occasional exaggerated, high pitched whimper.

As frustrated as Drake felt, he refrained from walking over and interrupting Emma’s fun.
Alaric had seen the group chat too.
But he was smart enough not to respond to any of it.
Alaric lowered his eyes, his fingertip tapping lightly against the edge of his device.

He could easily walk over there right now, show off his tails, soften his voice, even copy Marcus‘ shameless little routine and collapse straight into Emma’s arms.
But doing that might not win him Emma’s attention at all. It could just as easily ruin the rare, genuine joy she was clearly experiencing right now.
She looked so happy in this moment.
Her eyes had crinkled with laughter, her fingers gripping the rainbow wand, occasionally lifting it just out of reach, watching Marcus scramble after it with clumsy paws, her shoulders shaking softly with quiet laughter.
Alaric stared at that smile, and slowly, the restless energy in his eyes settled into something calmer.
He and Drake had reached the exact same conclusion.
There was no point competing with Marcus over something like this.
Winning or losing barely mattered. Ru’s happiness right now would be the real loss, one far too costly to risk.
Besides, there was always tomorrow.
Alaric let out a slow breath, the corner of his mouth curling upward as he glanced over at Drake, who still sat there on the bed.
Drake’s expression remained as dark as coal.
Alaric studied him for a moment, then leaned in and spoke quietly.
“You saw the messages in the chat. I don’t think we should let those idiots have all the fun laughing at our expense.”
That hardly seemed fair.
Hearing that, Drake lifted his gaze toward Alaric.
“What exactly are you planning?”
Alaric raised an eyebrow and pulled up his device.
Alaric tagged everyone. “Emergency wager, opening the floor.”
“Since Marcus has Emma’s full attention right now, and the rest of us are just sitting around anyway, why not place some bets on whether Marcus manages to stay in Emma’s room tonight?”
“If you think Marcus won’t be staying, feel free to add your name to that side too.”
“Bets locked in once placed. Whoever loses cooks for everyone tomorrow, all day.”

Chapter 939 Plan
Kieran asked, “You’re really turning this into a betting pool?”
Corvin answered, “I say be stays. He’s got a massive advantage right now.”
Calum added, “Same here.”
Jim sent a period.

Lucien texted, “I’m betting nobody wins this. Knowing Emma, she’ll probably kick every last one of you out the second she’s done playing with Marcus.”
Malrik agreed, “Lucien’s answer honestly sounds the most accurate.”
Corvin added, “Alright, changing my bet. I’m going with Lucien on this one.”
Edric typed, “I’m betting on Silas.”
Kieran tagged Silas. “You’re not even going to weigh in on this?”
Alaric scanned through the chat and let out a soft click of his tongue.
Well, that had worked out perfectly.
The conversation had officially derailed itself.
Meanwhile, Emma had no idea her group of admirers had just opened a betting pool over her love life.
Right now, her entire focus stayed locked on the adorable spectacle of Marcus.
She swung the toy wand left, and Marcus lunged left, paw outstretched.
