Chapter 941 It’s Livestreaming
The worst part of all was that the group–chat had been live streaming the entire disaster in real time.
Live. Streaming. Every second of it.

Downstairs, Marcus, back in his human form now, glared at Alaric through gritted teeth.
“Alaric, if you’re not going to use that mouth of yours for anything useful, maybe donatè it to someone who actually needs one.
“What in the world did you mean by stiff? Do you even think before you speak?”
Alaric rubbed the bridge of his nose, not offering a single word in his own defense.
He stared up at the ceiling, then down at the floor, anywhere except directly at Marcus.
Under the combined weight of Drake’s and Edric’s stares, both of them looking like they wanted to end him on the spot, Alaric spoke up nervously.
“Look, I really was talking about Marcus‘ body being tense. No one could’ve guessed Emma would…”
He trailed off mid–sentence, cutting himself short.
He noticed the room had gone even quieter than before.
A vein throbbed visibly at Marcus‘ temple.
Edric slowly lifted his gaze.
Drake’s face stayed completely blank.
Three seconds passed.
Marcus let out a cold laugh.
“Keep going.”
Alaric was quiet.
He didn’t dare say another word. Not a single syllable.
His survival instincts had never spiked this hard in his entire life.
He changed course immediately.
“What I meant to say was that Emma’s just really innocent, that’s all.”
Drake. “Right.”
Edric and Marcus were speechless.

Alaric’s nerves spiked even higher, and faced with three sets of eyes clearly plotting his demise, he spun on his heel without
hesitation.
“You know what, I should really go check on Emma’s beauty tonic. If I leave it too long, the bird droppings extract might lose its
potency.”
He grabbed the first excuse available and bolted immediately.
Clearly, showing his face around Emma for the next couple of days would be a mistake.
Otherwise, the poor woman would never stop dying of embarrassment every time she saw him.
Upstairs, Emma lay face down on her bed, pretending to be asleep, when her device buzzed softly.
She hadn’t planned on checking it, but a glimpse out of the corner of her eye told her the message came from Silas.
Silas texted, “Hey Emy, could I ask you for a favor?”
Silas practically never asked her for anything.
This was the first time he’d ever reached out like this, and if she said no, there was no question it would hurt him.
Emma propped herself up slightly and typed back.
Emma asked, “Did something come up? Whatever you need, just tell me.”
She lay there waiting for a couple of seconds before Silas‘ reply popped up on her screen.
Silas continued, “The Executive Department is holding an internal banquet tonight. As one of the department’s ranking officials, tradition says it’s best if I bring my huntress along.”
A moment later, as though worried he’d put too much pressure on her, a second message came through in a rush.
Silas texted, “I’d really love it if you could come.”
Silas added, “But if you’ve already got other plans tonight, or you’re just too tired to go out, that’s completely fine too. I can go alone. Please don’t feel obligated at all.”
He hadn’t mentioned a single word about what had just happened in the group chat.
Emma lay there staring at the messages on her screen, blinking a few times.
The wave of pure mortification that had been threatening to swallow her whole just moments ago faded considerably.
It was rare enough for Silas to actually ask her for something, and this happened to be one of those stiff, formal occasions where appearances mattered. There was no way she could let him walk in there alone.
Emma drew in a deep breath and typed quickly, her fingers tapping across the screen.
Emma answered, “I’m free tonight. What time does the banquet start? Do I need to prepare anything?”
The moment she hit send, a reply came through almost instantly, and even through the screen she could practically feel his

excitement radiating off the message.
Silas answered, “You don’t need to prepare a thing, I’ve already taken care of everything.”
Silas continued, “Wait for me, I’ll wrap up my work early this afternoon and come pick you up.”
Silas added, “Emy, thank you.”
Reading Silas‘ messages, Emma couldn’t help the small smile tugging at her lips.
She doubted this was a coincidence. Silas had never liked attending these kinds of forrnal functions in the past.
Reaching out specifically to invite her along was clearly his quiet way of helping her shake off the embarrassment from earlier.
Emma added, “No need to thank me for something like this. Alright, I’ll wait for you at home.”
Downstairs, Lucien scrolled through the guest list Silas had sent over for the Executive Department banquet that evening.
He quickly typed out a message to Aria.
Lucien texted, “Emma’s going to the Executive Department banquet tonight.”
Lucien added, “Didn’t you just find yourself a partner who works there a few days ago? Go along with her.”
Gatherings like these were absolutely the most tedious kind of event
Lucien understood exactly why Silas had invited her, hoping to smooth over her earlier embarrassment.
