No longer a pushover (Noelle and Cedric) novel Chapter 1045

Every nerve within Noelle struck after hearing Carl's words. In her past life, it was on that very island that she lost her kidney.

It was only on that island that her desperate cries for help went unheard.

Upon seeing the look on her face, Carl lowered his eyes and hid the flicker of pain within them. Then, he softly said, "If you don't want to, forget it."

Noelle came back to her senses and reminded herself that this life was different from the last. Then, she calmly explained, "This is something I need to discuss with Cedric. There's plenty of time before then. If Mrs. Greene recovers well, there might be no need to move to the island after all."

In any case, she did not intend to go over, not ever in this lifetime.

Carl forced a smile. "Alright, whatever you say. I won't force you to do anything you don't want to, and I just hope you can be a little happier."

Noelle responded with a faint, mocking smile while Blake spoke up from the side. "I think Noelle will do just fine as long as we don't mess things up again."

Noelle had everything now and didn't need her six brothers anymore. After all, all they'd ever brought her was pain.

Noelle had no interest in hearing their pointless talk. Instead, she got up and headed to the dining room. "Let's eat."

The sooner they finished, the earlier she could leave.

Donovan turned to Blake. "You're siding with Noelle a little too much now. Have you forgotten the scar on your face and how it cost your career?"

Stroking the scar on his face, Blake said, "I brought on that myself. Luckily, Noelle was smart back then. If she'd been the one to get hurt, I'd regret it for the rest of my life."

Donovan fell silent and figured Blake must be mad.

Lucas turned to Donovan and said, "Donovan, don't forget who built the company's firewall and systems for you."
