Carl approached and asked, "What did you two talk about?"
Frank told the truth about Xenia's unborn child. If it had been anyone else, he wouldn't have said a word, but he trusted Carl to keep the secret.
Carl frowned. "Why did you keep it to yourself until now?"
"We can't afford any complications on Sean's end. We had no choice so that the court case would proceed smoothly."
Carl's expression darkened as he murmured, "These people are such an eyesore. If I'd come back earlier…"
None of them would still be alive. Frank shot him a concerned glance. That strange, uneasy feeling was back again.
He clapped Carl on the shoulder and said, "Using the law to punish the Merlock family is the right move, Carl. It's only then that we can serve them justice and make sure they never rise again."
"But the death penalty is rarely handed out, and most likely, they'll just get life in prison. Do people like them even deserve to live? They should be rotting in hell alongside our parents."
Carl's voice was cold, and his eyes were filled with murderous intent.
Shuddering in fright, Frank said, "You do realize how dangerous that thought is, right?"
After snapping out of it, Carl said, "Of course, I'm just venting. After being deceived by these people for years, don't you ever wish they were all dead?"
"Of course, I'm mad, but this is exactly why we need to hand it over to the law. If we take things into our own hands, how are we any different from them?
"When the time comes, we'll be the ones going to jail, and that's not what Mom and Dad would've wanted."
Carl lowered his gaze. "Make sure the hospital keeps Xenia there and does not let her back."
Frank nodded. "I know. I'll have the doctors hold her there on the pretense of needing rest during pregnancy."
After what Xenia did today to disgust Noelle, there was no telling what she might do in the future. The best solution was to keep her away and never let her appear in front of Noelle again.
After Frank left, Carl remained standing there alone. A sneer crept across his face as he murmured, "What does a few deaths matter? They all deserve it."
