No longer a pushover (Noelle and Cedric) novel Chapter 1109

Noelle was surprised to hear Carl's words. "Are you sure this isn't human ash?"

Wyatt spoke up in fury. "Does that mean that bitch Xenia is still alive!"

Blake chimed in, "That isn't necessary. Maybe the ashes sent here weren't Xenia's. The woman isn't stupid enough to hand over the real remains, knowing we'd destroy them."

Noelle had the same thought as Blake. The woman they were dealing with was clearly no fool. If she were, she wouldn't have stayed hidden all these years, safe and sound from all this.

Looking at the scattered ashes on the ground, Noelle clicked her tongue. "So, did we walk right into her trap? Did we just make a fool of ourselves?"

Carl got up and said, "It doesn't matter. All this proves is that she's just good at little tricks."

Blake let out a cold laugh. "Yeah. She's just a coward."

"Exactly. Only the weak and guilty keep playing such games to test our limits." Noelle nodded. She looked toward the surveillance cameras once more with an icy glance.

On the other side of the screen, someone was indeed watching—a woman sitting calmly on the couch. After tossing the tablet aside, she picked up a cup of coffee and took a sip.

The man standing beside her was visibly agitated. "Ma'am, are you just going to let them provoke you like that? How dare they treat Ms. Quigley's ashes that way!"

"The ashes weren't real. Why are you so mad?"

"I just can't swallow this! If they don't have the Greene family backing them, you could've crushed them with a snap of your fingers."
